I don't trust this model, since when building a company that's based on open source software you have just two business models available:
1) make money from services.
2) make money from products.
If you pick "1" you can do a good, very small company, to get your bills payed, but service companies are hard to scale, and unlikely to grow their value in a short time. This is not what your VCs have in mind, basically.
So you end doing "2" if you are VC-backed. With "2" the only way to get money is to either close part of the software, or to find a different way to provide some product value to the user if the use will pay. And this will make the project weaker one way or the other in the end.
In theory the iPad could be the perfect device to build an app for learning children to write simple programs, however apparently the Apple policy does not allow running an interpreter as part of an application, and technically speaking such an app should allow to visually build simple programs that are interpreted, so I guess, game over, but it is a huge lost opportunity.
It seems like you check for SYN packets, so there is no way to just see the connection currently active. This in my opinion limits the usefulness of the application, it would be cool to see an update that can have a tab for "live" connections and one for the "history". Thanks for the app anyway.
What Stallman said is just, analytically speaking:
1) I don't like when people die.
2) But this happened to Steve Jobs, unfortunately.
3) However from my point of view he was doing so much damage to the world of software that this is a good thing. Not the fact he died but the fact that we no longer have his influence.

It is like if you are the leader of a movement against the practice of killing whales, and there is one guy that kills 100,000 whales every year. If he dies you can legitimately say: "I'm sorry he died, but this is a good thing for whales".
He used the wrong words, the wrong time, and so forth, but the concept is nothing of extraordinary from his point of view. It is important to have the freedom of saying what we want.
Your prediction that Apple will not switch to a smaller screen size is illuminating...
The problem as I see it is that for marketing pressure they could switch to 4 inches displays, and the issue showed by the original poster is a bad one for smart users interacting with their device with just one hand (this is at least how I use it and how I see all my friends interacting with it).
Actually the iPhone software keyboard appears to be designed for a good one hand interaction since it works incredibly well even when you think you are putting your thumb in a too wide and imprecise area but actually you end pressing exactly the intended letter.
If there was a reason for the original display to be 3.5" is likely exactly that: the largest screen that is possible to get while preserving one hand interaction and reasonable size for holding it in your pocket.
It is so nice to be addicted to the coolest abstractions of programming languages, considering PHP undeniable lack of elegance and orthogonality just a mess, but I think when there is to get shit done this is not the only quality a programming language should have. PHP has other qualities: trivial to deploy, a set of libraries built-in, dispatch/execution fast enough. So I would love to see PHP improved as a language as replacing it is not so easy at this point. Instead fixing the language should not be so hard, assuming a competent core team.
