The pdf link was almost invisible on my phone. Here's the link https://littleosbook.github.io/book.pdf

Layoffs are nothing to be surprised or enraged about. That's how free market works. Companies were there just for the money. All the time.

Maybe they could reduce someones seniority level and wage? But that seems just strange and probably nobody would agree on that.

I don't really feel a difference in productivity. It's usually browser/vscode/terminal with tmux on full screens anyway. The biggest difference for me are the aesthetics and a distraction-free minimalist design. I like to have my pixelspace used with close to no waste.

I've switched to windows because of laziness and need to reconfigure my dotfiles after like 6 years of using i3. This week I'm getting a new m2 disk and will be installing arch to finish my rice.

This was also my immediate thought, wait groups and a channel for any error would work just like the nursery. However I still see the advantage for this new approach as a provider for sane defaults. Right now you need to structure the concurrent routines yourself and are free to mess up. Nurseries should make it the other way around. I'm not sold on that but may give it a chance.

Well go statements are as nice as you can get with old-school concurrency primitives. Author of the article believes we need to have new completely concurrency primitives.

Hopefully libgen will keep being the best public digital library. This is where I get most of my ebooks and if I don't find something there I'll just buy it and upload.

Subscribe models may be even better for scraping multiple of books to get them there

Interesting thing is that in my case despite doing over 300kg squat and deadlift in competition prep at over 120kg my caloric zero was about 3500kcal, on 4000kcal I would gain fat too fast. This hasnt changes from pre-carnivore times for me. Steroids free.

>Does this finding hold promise for that ever-elusive diet pill? I wonder what will go wrong this time with side-effects. Maybe overeating rebound after it gets out of the system. That would resemble natural compensation of calories after activity is finished.

From personal experience I recommend saturated fat (mostly from beef tallow) as an anti-hunger molecule. With as little as possible omega-6 in the diet. And carnivore. Works wonders. My satiety base level is now set so that I get down to ~12% bf in a reasonable time when I'm above that. Could also bulk up to a powerlifting competition on this diet no problem when necessary.

Ignoring the content, the writing style was extremely annoying.

Anyone else with similar feelings?

Tor -> buy mullvad for xmr -> use it for clearnet ip after Tor Best for privacy, best for abuse. Arent there any problems like captchas everywhere because the ip was overused? Or CP distribution lawsuits towards mullvad?

> do less, be less It's a relative tip. Absolutely true if you're just pushing yourself to burnout at the sake of your health. Absolutely false if you're wasting whole days on weed & games alone.

What I didn't hear often enough when listening about teeth health is how important is diet and lifestyle for the teeh health. While there was talk about brushing and regular dentist visits, the diet factor was mentioned briefly and half-heartedly that you shouldn't eat sugar. Which nobody listened to anyway (especially as a kid). How much more is there to it is well explained in Weston A. Price - Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects [0] Just be wary of the foundation, they are quacky often. Just read the book.

What people know is just practical knowledge of their immediate surrounding and a bit of theoretical models of what is outside. If by "knowing what they are doing" you mean deep understanding of everything from the big picture then it's impossible. Doing your own local stuff as good as possible is the best we can get and it usually works reasonably well. Until we get a dictator in an information bubble, but well that's just life.

It makes sense, but wouldn't think about that myself. But still it's just a word from Apu Apustaja memes that rightwingers try to take for themselves.

That bet doesn't really have any high impact on my personal life. It's just what I consider the most likely scenario. Other than that I live in a normal pragmatic way as a programmer even though I don't believe the tech I work on is going to save the world or allow us to conquer the stars or whatever.

And we're all gonna die eventually.

Just on Wickr itself. I wonder how secure it really is. Amazon only makes me suspicious. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out later that the algorithms implementation wasn't perfect. Or just straight out backdoor.

PGP is the gold standard but the ease of use wins again.

Really enjoyed the read, even though I believe such vision of the future is impossible. We'll just return back to the iron age with the end of fossil fuels.

For similar vibes I highly recommend my favorite of such speculations into deep future - The Next Ten Billion Years By John Michael Greer [0]

And some encouraging quoutes:

>100 years from now

>Cornucopians still insist that fusion power, artificial intelligence, and interstellar migration will save us any day now, and their opponents still insist that human extinction is imminent, but most people are too busy trying to survive to listen to either group.

>100 millions years from now

>They are bipeds, but not even remotely human; instead, they belong to Earth’s third intelligent species. They are distantly descended from the crows of our time, though they look no more like crows than you look like the tree shrews of the middle Cretaceous
