I recently launched an iOS app called ImgDetect — a lightweight tool that helps users detect whether an image is AI-generated (deepfake or synthetic) in just a few seconds. With the growing use of tools like Midjourney, DALL·E, and Stable Diffusion, I felt there was a need for a simple, privacy-focused mobile solution.
How it works:
Combines artifact analysis with deep learning-based pattern detection
Works offline with no data stored
Designed for journalists, content creators, and everyday users
Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
Right now, our main focus with ImgDetect is on delivering fast AI detection and maintaining a simple, seamless user experience.
But I agree — if server load increases significantly or we need extra protection in the future, implementing a creative captcha system like the one you mentioned sounds like a really smart idea.
I'll definitely keep it in mind! Thanks again for sharing this concept.
A few additional details I didn’t fit in the main post:
The app currently supports JPEG/PNG images and can detect common generative signatures from models like Stable Diffusion, DALL·E, and Midjourney.
We're experimenting with a small batch upload feature for journalists to verify multiple images at once.
I'm a solo developer, so all feedback and ideas are super appreciated.
