Ended up with some used Cisco equipment aimed at the small business segment. Similar-ish price to new Ubiquiti gear, and I've spent essentially 0 time maintaining the stuff beyond initial setup. Still don't have APs set up though, I've just been making do with what I had laying around.

I almost did the same thing, but it was clear a year ago that they were moving towards "cloud based" services, something I didn't want to participate in. Looks like it was a good decision, in retrospect.

Why do you say that? Honest question - nowadays it seems like most users are just using web apps, so less need for native apps anyway. Plus the users are still there, so I'd think market forces would keep highly-used native apps going anyway.

For the life of me I can't understand why touch screens built in to a car are considered "different" than phones. Cities and states are finally waking up and making it a crime to use your phone while driving, how in the world are car touch screens any different?

Wayfair has done this. Sent them pictures of a (fairly pricey) door handle/deadbolt set that had scratches on it. They said to just keep it and do whatever with it, they'll mail out another one. Super convenient, and now the door from my garage has a nice handleset with just a few small scratches.
