Thanks for putting down Ruby on Rails developers everywhere.
Comparing a DESIGN framework to an actual web framework, with much more actually to it is nonsensical.
Beginners sure can use Rails. So can the experience programmer. The budding Rails developer still needs to learn concepts and programming skills to create his/her application. The use of a framework doesn't imply a programmer using it learns nothing.
Now which is more likely? Someone creating a well programmed, secure website from scratch to "learn how to program", or to use a well tested, and proven framework?
People don't use Rails to simply "learn how to program".
You are completely missing this.

I'm also bipolar/ADHD, and this post makes extreme assumptions about learning.
Not everyone learns the same way. I absolutely cannot stand to sit in class and listen to a professor babble on incessantly and draw pictures of concepts and irrelevant ideas simply to relate it for the majority to learn.
I learn by doing. By code. By numbers. By command line.
It has done quite well so far..for me at least.
Maybe it hasn't for you..then change that and get busy learning instead of filling HN with awful blog posts.

I am personally an agnostic, and I don't care to deal with the stupid issues that people simple bitch about. I'm okay with anyone's faith, and their beliefs. If these people are this scared of a little, cute demon who has been the logo for FreeBSD for a long length of time and think that staying at a hotel who utilizes the technology for how viable of a solution it is for their use case risks their personal salvation...then that shows the intelligence level of the individual.
I myself have coded belligerently drunk once.
Quite honestly, some of my best code, clean and performing correctly. I rewrote and pushed an entire rubygem I had created (sober) 3 months prior.
Using some Python doesn't really qualify you for a job in it.
Knowing just C, and a little Python, isn't really that good of a resume of languages. I am an 18 year old, and I've got 5 years experience in about 6 or 7 languages. Crack open the books.

Primarily a Ruby/HTML/JS/CSS developer. I have worked with PHP, Python, C, C++, Erlang, Coffeescript, et al.
I have mostly used Rails for web apps, but I've used Sinatra, Codeigniter, and other MVC web frameworks.
I have used plenty of javascript frameworks, Prototype/Scriptaculous and jQuery are my favorites, but I think YUI, Dojo, Cappuccino, and Sproutcore are great and I have done some work with them.
