The Ainu people of Hokkaido,Japan are no different than the indigenous peoples of the Aleutian islands of Alaska. I do not think it's a stretch that the supposed icebridge over there Bering sea would have given a direct route to British Columbia. I think it is common knowledge that life originated in Africa and dispersed from there. Thoughtfully, people of the ancient world would have been in the Northern reaches of Japan before they would have ventured to North America. If there was a link to Japan I would see it as almost natural that it would connect the cold regions of British Columbia and Hokkaido.
Can moving air without altering the temperature be considered an air conditioner? Does blowing air away from you as you sleep mean that you wont be hot anymore? If so, then blowing hot air from outside of the residence is "air conditioning". But cooling off the body does happen when airflow is increased, but not by any measurable amount.. certainly not when the air temperature is 85°+
I could hardly imagine taking flight in a jet to potentially intercept one of the suspect planes knowing that your only options were to aim for the tail or the cockpit. Knowing that you were acting as a type of kamikaze. Chilling. That thought was barely on my mind during the day on 9/11 as a 6th grader. I still get chills thinking about it.
