You stated videos aren't difficult. My experience with professionals presenting whatever across many disciplines really shows that to be false.

I know it can be done; I've seen it. I know it can be good; I've enjoyed it.

But to say "it's not difficult" is to be blind to reality.

> It’s not difficult to use a real video format with controls to allow pausing, or to design a pause button into software-driven animation.

Countless presentations that just skipped whatever video content they had due to various technical difficulties say otherwise.

>It’s worth noting that it took a few years to integrate into the team which is longer than most folks stay at any job

And if we as a culture can't address this, we are in for a very bad time.

> And while they may not have wanted to work, the work was nonetheless something that both they and society felt was useful: something purposeful and appreciated.

I have begun fearing we live in a world that actively hides useful, meaningful work behind bureaucracies, licensure, advanced degrees, and other mechanisms. I believe this happens as a type of nepotism...a holding onto a nugget of meaningful work/knowledge until someone like you can grab hold of it and complete it to your liking.

Why are so many business deals hidden behind golf rounds and clinking glasses? Because business/work/utility is power. If I rely on you, you have power over me. So I better make sure I approve of the who and the how of that power.

It's fear that drives this. And my fear of the world it creates is stifling.

Minds are pattern repeaters. Creation begets imagination begets creation begets...Separating the two or holding one over the other is rather pointless.

You can tell a child they can create things. That should be enough for them to abstractly reason from there about all the possibilities, right? Or is it that you have to teach a child to create so that they can imagine what they might create next?

Based on these very unreliable sources, the number of drummers in the US may have increased from ~1 million in 2006 to ~2.5 million in 2018. That's during a time when the population increases from 298 million to 327 million.

So, during this period, a ~10% increase in population saw a 250% increase in drummers.

It does not appear that the drum kit killed the drummer.

Big caveats about what these surveys defined as "drummer" and that this doesn't reflect professional drummer gigs, just the number of drummers.

You can use AWS Accounts like microservices. The biggest security walls in AWS are the account barriers. Those have to be specifically configured to cross. Sometimes (1%) its unavoidable, but if you have multiple services running on an account, you force yourself to weave arcane webs of IAM permissions crisscrossing all over to get what you need where. It's a terrible model that people inflict on themselves because it's how everything used to work.
