Cost kind of stops the government from sending goons right now, sure some governments do it but, it's costly at scale.

The flip side here is if I could use an iPad to replace the MacMini on my desk and connect to a monitor with the same support my Mac does I'd most likely have a top end iPad Pro as opposed to my mildly spec'd MacMini M2 and iPad Air M1. I'd literally spend MORE money on that 1 iPad than both existing iPad and Macs I have today.

Never considered this before but I'd be curious if the delivery apps have data where they can tell which drivers are using this tactic.

I think it's safe to say once we're at that stage the tv's simply won't work unless connected to the network.
