There's a now a whole group of blocklists targeted specifically at cookie banners in uBlock Origin settings.

If it happens on a remote machine, maybe this:

(I hope it is, there's something ironic in John Nagle complaining about network-induced latency in interactive sessions.)

Most of those "cannot copes" can be fixed by changing the user agent to that of Chrome. Most sites that refuse to work in other browsers simply don't test on anything but Chrome and don't want the support burden.

How much time is saved by not having to go to the gym? I'd imagine 80 minutes of cycling every working day is more than enough to maintain health.

It's a lottery with these novelty TLDs. If you use them, setup your configuration such that you can move to another TLD easily.

.nets and .coms increase in price too, but they don't tend to jump by 100% in a single year like these novelty ones, which were created purely to make money for the registry.

e.g. https://tld-list.com/blog/tld-wholesale-price-increase-2023

  TLD Old New Percent Date
  .reviews $17.00 $40.00 135.29% 2023-10-04
  .furniture $38.00 $80.00 110.53% 2023-10-04
  .faith $4.98 $9.98 100.40% 2023-09-04
  .racing $4.98 $9.98 100.40% 2023-09-04
  .review $4.98 $9.98 100.40% 2023-09-04
  .science $4.98 $9.98 100.40% 2023-09-04

$2k is roughly six median monthly salaries in my country, which is pretty typical for the world we live in. Maybe even on the larger side. I am fully aware you don't care about most of the world and will advise us to follow some other pursuit, I've heard this many times before. (Which we do, Apple is not really relevant outside the US.)

A large chunk of meson functionality is supported by muon, which is a pure C implementation with no dependencies. I tested it for fun with several projects and it was indistinguishable from "proper" meson. Haven't tried with anything large like qemu or systemd, though.

Because it needs to be decrypted at some point?

It's a fine project right up to the point of you needing additional functionality that's split into one of the plugins. Since Go applications do not support proper .so in practice, you have to build your own binaries or rely on their build service, and this puts the responsibility of supporting and updating such custom configuration on you.

So no setting up unattended-upgrades and forgetting about it.

Add Docker Hub to the list, just a couple of days ago they banned access from all of Russia on their own accord. Judging by reactions of people I know from there, I can't say actions like this bring us closer to good relations and a peaceful world. They're having exactly the opposite effect.

Sony is a joke of a company. Players from Central Asian countries used Russian PSN for years because Sony did not have a local presence. After leaving Russia and Belarus, they still refused to establish presence in those countries because it then might be used by players from Russia and Belarus to circumvent sanctions. So according to them it's fine not only to collectively punish people of those two countries, but also to drag in completely innocent third parties because of what might happen.

IMHO what they actually think is "you're not worth our money to bother to go through all the bureaucratic processes", and it would be far less insulting if they just said so directly, but I guess this may have something to do with Japanese notions of politeness.

The best thing people could do these kinds of situations is "buying" their games on the closest torrent tracker. What I actually see is people spending money on VPNs and payment cards from far away places to still give them money. (I don't do either, fuck them.)

Does nobody know you can rent domains for ten years in advance? This argument comes up every single time. Just extend it for ten years (or better yet, nine years so you can always migrate) and then set up a calendar event to remind yourself to add another year every year. You'll have a looooong ass grace period to deal with payment issues.

You can use Cloudflare to top up your account to the max (because they sell domains at cost), and then move to a registrar of your choice to save a bit of money.

When you die, your domain will not be reacquired for a decade, giving your accounts on various sites (or even sites themselves) time to expire. 2FA everywhere is a must, obviously.
