Never use any subscription based software in which you create data you want to keep! They have no incentive to allow good export options, you often loose all or most data that you kept in it. You have no alternative to go back to if the service is stopped!

i have been searching and using all kinds of finder replacements and i actually tried and bought about 4 of them (qspace pro, forklift, marta, spacedrive, path finder, commander one, double commander and more)

the one i am sticking with since quite a while and fits my requirements is bloom . It had some issues early on, but i had no problems with it since a long time.

Headline: People in power dont want to put people in power into prison!

How can an executive that steals millions of $ not go to prison, while somebody stealing food in a store can?

Why can police kill people and maybe not even be investigated for it, while somebody else is tried for being a terrorist when doing the same?

The american system is corrupt to the core, but only for the rich and powerful.

Yes, think about that and how the shares would drop in an instant.

Good thing european governments and industries start to work on real technological and financial independence. It is high time for cutting ties with a country that is acting as irrational and self centered as the usa.

I dont know why people use openrouter ,instead of a monthly subscription, if they can. While i am barely able to use up my 100$ monthly subscription, i can easily spend 10$ a day on openrouter (200-300$/month). Using top-tier models on openrouter is so much more expensive from my experience then any subscription.

Houses are almost allways bigger then something you rent… well that might be because you would not afford the rent of the large property, and the whole comparison falls apart.

Why would you run a benchmark with a for a 100$ cpu with a 5090 GPU!?!

I am working on a project since 10 months that is solely written by ai. The second iteration of the code is even coded in a language that i can really write in (rust), it uses advanced and very complex structures (crdt, plugins, parallel threaded webviews). None of the advanced features were an idea of the llm's, but a vision i had in my mind or requirements that came up when encountered with problems.

The software is a tool specifically designed around my requirements of managing lectures that need to be prepared, managed, have presentations, grading etc. I wanted one big space where i can quickly access all related data in a workspace, fold and unfold important aspects while also editing and moving contents across multiple days/lectures.

The first version is a vscode plugin, which i now use since about 4 months without or with minor modifications to manage my lectures and private data. The second version is a standalone application which improves on the ideas of the first version and goes a few steps further.

AI can make you something that looks like its running quickly. But when you try to finish it takes way longer then you'd think. You need to specify every little detail. You need to make its KISS and DRY etc. You let it analyze the application structure and simplify and cleanup nearly the same amount of times as you add features. While fixing bugs you might need to run the same thing multiple times and revert any unrequired changes. You need to think about good level of debug logs and ways that the program can help you find errors and report them quickly.

I hope my project will be ready in about 2 to 3 months. The current version is according to a quick analysis over 850 files with 250'000 lines of code.

I spent about 2000$ on ai subscriptions in that time. 200$ claude for a while down to 100$ a month now. 20$ to openai which is very important for architecture and reviews. 20$ on tests with other ai's, but i rarely use them in the works. I also spent 1500$ on 2 * 3090's to hopefully have a local ai agent in the future.

I spend about 2 to 4 hours each day (including weekends) to check that app and write prompts.

I would never have been able to create such a large and complex project next to my other tasks and i am very confident that the final product will be good enough for productive work.

how do you do 1mio context with qwen3.6 27b, that only supports 256k? and what hardware would you run that on? 2 * 3090 is afaik currently at max 256k context.

I am very interested in seeing new qwen models. Qwen3.6 27b is the first one that can do things and doesnt constantly loose "it's mind" and that can be run on a 3090 with a good context size. But it's sometimes getting into a loop.

Human thinks eating food from fire is bad because it looks charred and you might burn your fingers doing so. /s

I remember the time when people insisted that they would never use a mobile phone. I remember the time when people didnt understand my presentation about the magical "internet" (8th grade school in 94).

Why is it an apocalypse if people don't have jobs anymore? Why is it an apocalypse if the most intelligent being in the world isn't a human anymore.

It will be a major change, but only to people that see it as a thread to their existence - to not work anymore - are in real danger. There are tons of people in our society that are fine without working. We could tend to our children, we could tend to our elders. We could do arts and improve our world instead of competing and being better then others.

edit: you are right, this source is wrong, but we are getting closer fast.

A19 seems to be getting 2.3 tflops (still only 10%, but still a whole floor of computers vs a smartphone is crazy!).

People tend to forget how fast technological development advances. Even if you lived trough it you tend to forget how recently the world looked very different.

- before 2012 there was no smartphone

- before 2001 there was no wikipedia

- before 1995 less then 10 percent of the rich country home users had internet

- before 2023 there was no ai available to home users.

Hardware has been getting faster by a factor of 100 in 10 years and ~10‘000 in 20 years. Ai currently develops faster because of a combination of software and hardware improvements. Even if the best current system is only right 1/100 times right now, its likely nearly allways accurate in 10 years.

I also like to remind people that the phone i am writing this on (iphone 12), has the same computing power as the earth simulator in 2003. that was the fastest computer on the earth back then.

Imagine this development and think what changes might come.

i can show you my prompt. it's a mess and only listing the major prompts. but it's interesting to look at (for me at least).

archive:

in progress or undone:

and there is much improvement, because if often watch videos next to vibe coding the project and do it in minutes i have time. so history is a huge mess. but i started 6 months ago, with most work done in the last 4 months. i spent about 1000$ of ai budget on it.
