Totally with you! We’re in your “Anecdote 1” situation at the moment, moving separate services back to a glorious Monolith & Monorepo… Also just anecdotal, but I can confirm that jumping on the SPA/Vue/React bandwagon and the complexity that brings hugely decreased our productivity. And I think if I’m really honest those decisions to move to JavaScript heavy apps were definitely a bit FOMO based in the sense that you don’t want to be left behind with a “gap” on your resume… makes me wonder how often decisions are truly based on “the right tool for the job” or maybe even more importantly “the right tool for the team”.

The first is that the islands which should own the domain suffix, don’t, thanks to a wonderful piece of modern day British Imperialism. If you ever feel the need to donate to us, please give it to a more worthy cause.

Secondly, there was a security issue with the .io domain. In 2017, a researcher managed to take control of four of the seven authoritative name servers for the .io domain. We accept that mistakes can happen, strong processes limit the chances of them happening, but they still can.

However, the domain administrator made no attempt, at any time, to communicate with anyone about the issue. We’ve no evidence to suggest there is anything to be worried about, but the complete lack of communications means we have lost trust in whoever controls .io domains.”

Crazy! I read this HN thread on Safari on my mobile that i never use to access Facebook... a few hours later I’m on Facebook on my laptop in Chrome incognito mode, and one of the first ads that shows up is for Voltaren...how in the world?!?
