From personal experience, there's still a considerable chunk of rural America that isn't wired. I'm currently looking at an area to buy a house, and the only option around is Starlink.

Zero competition. No fiber. No cable. 5G coverage isn't sufficient for my daily needs, but okay for a failover.

Is Opus 4.8 equally or more capabale for the actual mechanics of the coding work?

It seems to me that having a powerful Fable layer for the planning, coordination, orchestration-type work and delegating to a suitable model for the actual execution of "coding tasks" is perfectly appropriate, if that is the case.

LLMs are stateless. But given an actual database of task-shaped items and some work, I could see the potential.

With a canonical source of truth, and set input/output expectations, the potential blast radius is quite small.

Critical thinking as a skill unto itself was held as incredibly important in my early education. At school, and at home. It continued through undergrad (obviously, I think).

In the past, say 5-ish years, I've been shocked to realize this isn't universal, or at least broadly applicable. Probably more of a result of whatever societal bubble I was born into. I don't know.

The result has been a growing uneasy feeling for me, at work mainly, when discussing just about anything. I have to pause and understand for myself: "Has this person thought through what they are saying?" That's actually become a friction point with me. And it isn't generational from what I've seen.

For my part, the code quality of the next.js dashboard isn't even something I'd evaluate.

I instantly get a quick, functional-appearing view of the offering. I can picture how I might interact with it and what mental gymnastics stand between right now and me pulling out a credit card.

I don't see marketing fluff that bring up more questions than it provides answers. I can be pretty certain I won't wind up in a sales funnel from hell, also.

Is this not a greater loss for the government than for Anthropic?

This is where my mind went.

A curious person or two poking around is one thing.

A few hundred, or thousands, of "AI enthusiasts," or however you'd like to imagine OpenClaw users, could likely approach the scale of "a problem."

I replaced the stereo in my ‘05 Tacoma with a new, touchscreen-with-CarPlay head unit. I hate not having a physical volume knob.

I do love the modern features. But hunting for that volume up/down button for a maddening while driving and unsafe.
