>owns 12,000 books, mostly fiction, kept in 19th-century wooden cases with glass doors in her New York apartment
Maybe I should write it from "privilege" point of view. Many people do not have their own rooms, sleep in their cars, or stay with abusive partners just for housing. They do not haul around any books, but that does not mean, they are any less educated.
I really do not see why people expect congratulations or sympathy, for their book hoarding. Rich people problems!
Maybe we can "solve" rats or hogs similar way: feeding and veterinary care.
The real problem is cats are protected. Anything bad happens, and we see articles like this. In reality it is invasive predatory species and should be treated as such!
State has conflict of interest as well. It is entity that is trying to save and extract money, just like big corporation. Lets not pretend it is somehow more moral!
I am java dev as well, used Vim extensively in past, but unlearned everything and went to "normal" Idea.
Main problem I had was different keybinding on android, web browsers etc... Using Vim everywhere would be great, but I had to constantly shift between two very different styles. Very frustrating.
Another problem is that Vim sucks as IDE. You constantly have to babysit and debug plugins. Any advanced features will bring plugin conflicts... Compared to Idea it is a nightmare.
Enrollment is tanking! It did disrupted it, just not in very measurable way! Just the fact people are discussing and questioning value of higher education on social networks, means there is so e disruption!
And YouTube is far better than bored and underpaid postdoc!
It is VERY difficult to find marriable woman who would be a good mother. Most NYC women who are "pining for commitment" really do not fit into that category.
