Funny enough, usually the correct answer is the option with the most number of letters/words. I found myself just picking the longest answer and by a wide margin it was the correct answer.

“My point is that it's not very obvious what it is unless you are super studied in Nazi symbology”

Or if you ever played a WWII themed video game (Wolfenstein, Call of Duty), or if you’ve ever watched a WWII show like Band of Brothers or watched a major WWII movie like Schindlers List or Saving Private Ryan. I could go on, it’s prominent in nearly any WWII media.

Honestly, I don’t know if people toting the line saying it’s “obscure” are intentionally lying because he aligns with their political agenda or are completely oblivious to any level of detail in any media.

It’s really astonishing.

Because it demonstrates it’s not some obscure piece of history that only WWII buffs would know.

A major film with one of the most acclaimed directors of all time that won the highest award you can win as a movie had the icon featured prominently on the main villain’s uniform throughout the nearly 4 hour movie. Come on my guy.

If I had wheels I’d be a bicycle. I don’t see your point? It’s very obvious what it is and just because you can alter an icon to make it look like something else doesn’t change what it is.

Ignorance of something doesn’t change what it is. “Oops I accidentally had a Nazi for nearly 20 years and only had it covered up 9 months ago when it became a political liability” isn’t a good look to say the least.

Not even just that, the main villain (Amon Göth) in Schindler’s List (which won Best Picture) has it on his uniform throughout the film.

It’s not like it’s some obscure icon.

You can spend your entire life minimizing risk, maximizing safety, and avoiding discomfort, or you can actually live. Either way you’re going to end up dead.

Moderation > abstinence in most things.

You’re referencing an unnamed CDC spokesperson trying to do damage control after the fact when the head of the CDC made the statement I quoted verbatim. The above comment I replied to with this quote said “I don't remember ever hearing from a reputable source that the vaccine would be 100% effective.” I provided an exact quote from the head of the CDC making that claim.

Furthermore, Biden made the same types of claims in town hall addresses to voters on more than one occasion.

The premise of this thread is the back and forth mixed messaging from medical as well as government leaders. That’s what has caused an uptick in lack of trust in institutions - especially medical - from a lot of people.

The CDC director said so herself: “Our data from the CDC today suggests, you know, that vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don’t get sick,” Walensky said on MSNBC last weekend, adding “that is not just in the clinical trials, but it’s also in real world data.”

>Ok? Give me all the vaccines. Being able to train our immune systems to recognize and attack harmful or even deadly pathogens is like a super power that we all have access to.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I’d caution you to treat vaccines as a binary and imply they’re all good and always worth taking. There are numerous examples in history where vaccines were rolled out and had to be recalled due to unintended negative effects (Pandemrix is one example). Not all vaccines are a net positive.

Regardless of where you fall on the vaccine “debate”, it’s pretty obvious leadership across the board (government agencies, international bodies, etc.) completely bungled the messaging around COVID and the efficacy of the vaccine (stating you will not catch COVID if you get the vaccine, which is not true at all).

Between that and going back and forth on the efficacy of masks amongst other things, a lot of faith in these kinds of institutions was eroded.

Could you share what you didn’t like about Apple Music? As a previously long time Spotify user I initially was put off by Apple Music but have been using it for the past 5-6 years and have come to really enjoy it.

I’ve always had fine experiences with 1Password both on iPhone and my Mac. With how bad Windows 11 is and continues to be, I wonder if your ire is misdirected. On my work computer (Windows) I’ve had a plethora of stability issues across a variety of programs/applications including ones developed by Microsoft.

“How is this not any different than a popup in Windows nagging me to switch to Edge? Or to buy O365?”

The implementation. I would argue Microsoft is far more egregious on how it shoves “recommendations” in your face compared to Apple or Google.

Lots of sites have ads for example, but you can quickly discern well integrated ads vs ones that are distracting.
