I've been thinking about stuff like this lately. Since the State and corporations alike wont give up on surveillance and ever growing control over people's lives, I might as well start to use/engineer things that sabotage/neutralize/destroy their surveillance apparatus. There could be also stuff in software we write: killswitches, backdoors, open-source software licenses that are hostile to surveillance use, etc. I welcome any criticism (still developing the ideia).
The problem is that most of this “junk” is easy to filter out. It’s better when the fake data is indistinguishable from the real data. That takes some effort, but it really is the only way to make the surveillance pointless.
I don’t see how this would be effective. You’ll be up against the best engineering talent, be it google or Facebook or whatever, with unlimited money. No doubt they already have tools to account for bad data? But more importantly, this would only work if lots of people cooperate, right?
Also, what if they pass a law banning such tools? It might sound hyperbole, but anything is possible in the current climate.

Cute idea but the implementation is completely useless.
It does draw attention to the fatal weakness in the surveillance society - everything is geared towards massive intake and thwarting you from controlling or removing your data. There is nothing preventing you from feeding the beast! Give it what it wants. Fill out marketing surveys with addresses in every city of every state. Sign up for that free car drawing with same. Apply for a hundred credit cards every day - you won’t be approved but how many can your credit report keep track of before it breaks. My goal has long been to request my free copy and have it arrive on a pallet.
There are always people that pop in about now and say “you can’t do that”, it’s “fraudulent”, “it’s illegal”, baa-baa-baa, good little sheep. I’m sure your loyalty to the system is neither noticed nor appreciated, but keep on fear mongering if it makes you feel secure.

any thoughts on the legality of wrapping your vehicle with this type of material?
Wrapping the car might be problematic because the law regulates where the number plates are located on the car, what they look like, their size and colors. In some places it’s criminal to display illegal number plates, this would most likely qualify as such.
I think you could successfully argue that any human could clearly tell the difference between paint with numbers on it and real license plates.
A human indeed.
I could see the police saying you did it intentionally to thwart them, but again, it’s not illegal to wear body armor in case the police shoot you. Suspicious, sure. But not illegal. This is exactly the same thing, except from AI, instead of bullets. Suspicious, yes, but not illegal.
I imagine these numbers would be quickly put on an ignore list, unless they’re making each shirt unique. If not, I would just assume these are plates of drug running cars, who are hoping to be put on an ignore list.
It's only a matter of time before this is made illegal because it's intention is to purposely evade, distort, confuse or interfere, much like a radar detector would.
I have no idea why these one-off "hacks" are posted, or why anyone would think painting a bulls eye like this on yourself is somehow an intelligent solution. They will just attach a face reader along with an ALP reader and at that point good luck.
The more I look at this, the more it seems like apparel for people who don't know what controlled opposition is.

Radar detectors are legal in most jurisdictions of the US.
