It's routine in canada to discriminate for faculty position hiring, where they openly say that only women can apply, or non-white people.

Why post at all? In fact, posting ad-hominems instead of actually discussing the story is against the site rules. You can flag stories you don't think should be posted, it will save you having a public hissy fit.

First of all, it's not an article, it's an opinion piece. It looks like yet another angry white man (uh oh, spot my racism...) screaming "discrimination!" and fanning the flames of "Look at us, we're being disadvantaged!".
IMHO, advantaged white people screaming for "equality!" is basically saying "I don't want the short people to have extra boxes!": http://i2.wp.com/interactioninstitute.org/wp-content/uploads... .. maybe this cartoon would be better if the tall person is sitting comfortably on his box.
Whether the program made sense or not because the dad said the black kids in his son's school didn't look disadvantaged (honestly, I wonder how carefully he looked...), is a different question. And if we're going to some place like W. Virginia where even the white people are suffering, I would agree offering help to just non-whites would be concerning.

So you're not disputing any factual claims he made, got it.
