Hey I'm in the process of building something similiar - synctium.com Do you mind telling me what you didn't like about Monica?
I do nearly everything with text notes.
If I need to record it, it goes in an unstructured text file in Keep, if I want to see it, I have search and tags.
Maybe something more structured would be a good idea, but I like not having to fuss with a billion different tools and different sync accounts for everything.
For just contact info I just use Google's sync on my phone, and I put birthdays in my calendar.

I'm trying to use Amplenote for this. I already use it for my notes so bit biased there :-)
I have daily notes and with inline tagging for example "@john doe" it creates a note for John Doe, on the John Doe note page I can add details and view the backlinks when we interacted.
Not sure yet if it's viable long term but so far so good.

Yes,thats what I do with Obsidian.
Yet it's not "automated" enough to actually call people once in a while
I would use Airtable for this. It's just sheets on steroids with automation and interface.
It's free to use for personal project

If you're in the Apple ecosystem, theres a free form text section in contacts for notes.
Would you be open to custom CRM?
Other than that, i could only find professional CRMs with too much features.
Any suggestions here?
