The question is how they are managing to do so? They are supposed to struggle due to chip sanctions.
Secondly, why now? The US companies were supposed to subsidize too but now they are unable to keep up. Everyone going to usage based pricing, so it's unsustainable for them. They are well funded too.
If there are genuine hardware breakthrough reducing compute needs then that is good for the whole world I believe.
In Kolkata, sweet sellers was struggling with cost management after covid due to increased prices of raw materials. But they couldn't increase the price any further without losing customers. So they reduced the size of sweets instead, and market slowly reduced expectations. And this is the new normal now.
Human psychology is surprisingly similar, and same pattern comes across domains.

But maybe we can't make everything deterministic for complex cases, the scenarios that opened after LLM arrived into scene. Maybe we need a mix of both.
