A browser isn't just a bunch of code that runs on your local machine. Security, maintainability, etc. depend on a development organization behind it, and these needs will only increase as the usage scales. You really need an ecosystem, not just an app.

And speaking of ecosystems, will your browser use plug-ins? Will it be compatible with other plug-in standards? If not, that's a whole different hill to climb, convincing the wider community to develop for your platform.

In other words, it takes a whole lot more than coding to launch an app, especially an app as complex and as central a part of a user's life as a browser.

This is a good post about the importance of being focused on your customers and your market when you are trying to decide if a product is viable. However, even though it may be realistically possible to build a product in a matter of weeks, and even though that product may be what the market needs, and you have a good way to distribute it, your startup is making good progress, etc., that method of building will leave you with a lot of technical debt. What happens when you need to add features, customize, etc.? Will you ask AI to do it all? What if there isn't any human who really understands your codebase? What suits a startup may not be good for the long haul. But then, you've already cashed out, so what do you care?

My my, how Google's "Don't be evil" has changed. No matter what you think of AI, they're definitely not the good guys any more.

There are very few manufacturers of hard drives, and LaCie isn't one of them. They package drives in very nice cases and cater to the Mac crowd. This is far from a mystery, and certainly not worth noting.

I recommend ICDSoft. They're cheap, zero hassle, and competent, and they respond to support emails very quickly. I've been their customer for years, and they've only gotten better.

If you were seriously trying to patent some AI-created invention, why would you claim it was created by AI? You would simply put your own name on it. This was obviously a case of pushing the envelope to see how far he could go.

Lefties need to lay off the pot and jump in the sack or the MAGAs will outbreed them.

Threats to leave California are a bit toothless. The state has an enormous economy, something like 5th largest in the world if you were to consider California as a separate country. Few companies can afford to forego that market, which is why California has so much influence in setting standards. And any company that leaves, even the biggest, will have a minor effect on the state's finances.

How about just not allowing it on your service at all?

I think you're underselling modern vacuums. Sure, a cordless stick doesn't work very well, but there's a lot of excellent canister and upright vacs made by names like Miele and Shark that have plenty of suction. Certainly not as much as your 750 watt monster, but I got the same sensation of using a new vacuum and seeing it pull up tons of dirt I didn't know was there with our latest Shark upright.

I hate this kind of site. After the first attempt at scrolling I realized what it was and left. It's low information and irritating to boot.

Would not click on this headline. Buzzwords in title and domain name make it sound like political BS right off the bat.

I think that's a great idea. I did read the article (actually before I saw your post), and really that's most of the story right there -- the rest is just elaboration and various quotes from the survey they used for the study.

Using AI is great if you have already developed critical thinking skills. When you're just learning how to think, how to reason, how to have common sense, it's gonna get in the way.

Calculators are great, but it's still important to learn arithmetic.
