This whole article reads like a promotion for Apples Keynote masked behind a ridiculous concern "to finally upgrade my presentation tool". I'm guessing he didn't mention that Keynote comes with a price tag of the cheapest Mac computer... while the other is completely free.

Testing for ability is exactly what they were originally doing before the NBCFAE got involved in the FAA's well established hiring process.

I get your point, but to be clear this is already what they were doing since 1989 up until 2013.

I notice that the bluetooth antenna is unplugged not sure if you're using the wifi/bluetooth card from the Mac.

It's lit by the backlight in the LCD display. In other words, he didn't do anything extra.

I read a Virginia Woolf recently, To The Lighthouse. In which the mother describes her teenage children as having "incurable laziness". Which I found hilarious.

It would depend on a countries consumer laws. I used to work for AASP's in Australia and they definitely used refurished phones for replacements and refurished parts for the Mac repairs. Not everyone who uses this site lives in America...

I wonder how long before the incoming lawsuit from Apple / other tech giant / patent troll.

I myself archive vinyl only LP's for arguably the most elite of the music trackers. The music industry should honestly be ashamed of themselves for neglecting so much good music from the past and a lot of times making it extremely hard for artists or management to digitize their catalogs due to greedy legal reasons.

Blaming missing the AI boom on your revenues just shouldn't fly as an excuse. Good hardware makers should be innovating in other ways not just focusing / relying purely on AI and other tech trends for their revenue.

This has got to be one of the most out-of-touch comments I've ever read on HN. Most users of the internet aren't tech saavy and should not be preyed upon because of it.

Rixsteps take on .DS_Store - a much more enjoyable read. https://rixstep.com/1/20030521,00.shtml

And a follow up article - https://rixstep.com/2/20061212,00.shtml

You think referencing other coups is somehow unrelated?

Google also taxes for transactions on their Play store, but yes, Apple takes it to the extreme. You don't have to buy into the walled garden though.

Just more hypocracy from the US. US have been funding and training paramilitaries in just about every continent for decades now. Don't your government have anything better to do then throw their weight around the global arena?

Despite people downvoting me I did read the article. I don't assume this is all fisherman since that Chinese boat mentioned seems to be conveniently taking out cables and the Chinese gov is not responding to their investigation requests. Still doesn't change the fact that fishing operations destroy the ocean floors, a simple amount of research can confirm this.

Ah excellent, fishermen not only destroying the ocean but also the infrastructure of countries. When will peoples appetite for destroying the ocean be qualled?

You would assume that, yes, we will learn lots from the only spacecraft that is continually travelling further and further into unexplored space...

I believe you're confusing "mistake" with "accident".

This is an awesome project. I work with Revit(Python coded) so immediately tried shift + mouse wheel click drag. If you can get anywhere near Revit that would be impressively scary for Autodesk.

If that was true then Putin would also be immune to ICC prosecution, so, it doesn't seem to work like that.

> it prosecutes cases only when States do not are unwilling or unable to do so genuinely.

And if you read the last part of the sentence you quoted it should make it pretty clear that it doesn't work like you have interpreted it.
