In some towns, there's an issue with ordinances and laws not being specific enough and a lack of training for measuring accurately. Someone could measure dBA and someone else could measure dBC, and the ordinance doesn't specify which measurement applies.

Your average restaurant owner is not likely going to pay an IT consultant extra money to operate a link shortener for them on the GoDaddy domain they bought in 2006.

I'll be curious to see the file sizes for Apple's version of 3D video capture in their Vision goggles. After one, two or three generations, I'm sure the first gen files will look small and lacking.

In my opinion, the police’s complaint about how they were treated is a self-inflicted issue. A completely different person handing out diapers could have illicit the same response.

If they worked to have a better relationship with the people they serve, they would have had a better chance at being treated with more respect.

To me it seems like Google wants the same level of control, but is sacrificing user experience and ChromeOS brand impression to achieve it.

To me, resolution of this issue looks like either letting hardware providers release their own drivers to enable them to support the sales of hardware currently on the shelves, or refuse to license ChromeOS to hardware providers unwilling to meet support standards that Google’s customers expect. Selling unsupported hardware as new seems like a recipe to drive customers away from the ChromeOS experience.

Dumb question, but aren't iPads full of non-Apple hardware too?

I can't imagine buying a brand new device and be told that it's already too old for system updates because Google and the hardware provider are choosing not to work together to provide support. Google can point the finger all they want, but this is entirely a self-inflicted issue that other system software providers seemed to have worked past.

They should have recognized this is a serious issue for their customer and done something to address the cause of the issue.

Instead they're saying "don't change the behavior that caused you to lose the account, just open another account and cross your fingers you don't lose that one too."

We'll see if any evidence turns up in court. I think it's a good thing that Coinbase has audited statements to review and that the SEC is scrutinizing them.

If Coinbase is cooperative and absolved thanks to their diligence, they'll be further cemented as the standard for others in the industry to follow as regulators play catch up.
