I just deleted my comment wondering the same thing. I don't understand why something like opencollective couldn't be used. Give money to org, see how money is spent. The NFT is completely unnecessary.
The instructions I follow for my pourover requires 350 grams of water. Much more than 8oz. It drives me crazy, but it also tastes good! Though If I only poured until reaching the 8oz mark it's also quite nice. That said, there is a question of "full-extraction".
I love monotony in the right places. I'm particular about food, but I never bothered to research whether eating the same thing is OK. Glad I can just plan a healthy meal, and eat it over and over again.
It's only when I'm with others when I end up doing something different. And that different meal option almost always ends up being something I don't really want to put into my body.
Monotony is a great way to save money too. If you're cooking the same meals there is a lot of efficiencies you discover every day. The only difficulty comes when/if you want to eat seasonally.
Sometimes the desire for variety is just that. A desire.
I agree with you. It's frustrating when we focus on symptoms instead of the root causes, which are deeply encoded in our culture. It just makes it that much harder.
It's also frustrating when it's not discussed at all. It's hard to bring up the biases and subtle discrimination that occurs as a PoC without making a privileged person run for the hills.
I applaud people whose job is focused on bringing change to organizations. I can't imagine how difficult it is to do this work effectively.
Just stop using Facebook. Stop putting the onus on Facebook to fix all of this. We just need to stop using it. There are alternatives out there; start using them.
These articles are always going to come up. We're going to act surprised for 5 minutes, and continue to feed the machine.
