Ok! I like this thinking... Still, just for the sake of balanced discussion, while there is no need to invent angels to explain physical phenomena, nor can physicists use lack of evidence for supernatural phenomena as an argument against the existence of the Divine.

No, but once you have learnt some algebra you'll be in a position to learn other things - electrical physics for example, or audio engineering. These subjects, and many others, use the language of algebra, because algebraic explanations are very compact and easy to follow.

That's like what I heard.

Why punish? Indeed, why? Human justice - legal, lawful justice, has nothing to do with Justice at all, and is nothing but the visitation of revenge on the wrongdoer. I would hate to punish anyone because it would coarsen me to supervise somebody's pain. On the other hand, no punishment ever helped me to become a better person. The only thing that ever helped me in any case was love. I say "Abolish punishment" It only harms both its new victim and ourselves.

Emrah, who has provided me with an important hint - that this paper is not worth reading. If only there were a service that provided such hints automatically :( sigh ....

I picked up a hard copy of The Odyssey recently. I'm sure it must be much better when listened to - it makes very flowery (florid?) reading.

I investigate the topology of modulated lists, using a downloaded hp48g calculator emulator, and so gain insights into n-dimensional geometries.

HN is the nearest I come to "social media".

(Thank you, HN :) )

I like your comments, shuhamjain.co.. I'm pretty sure I don't want to live on Mars.

Why didn't you pick the Moon, Mr Musk? (Not that I want to live on the Moon, either.)

How about stick here and help us? We have a great need for clever engineering right now. One day, some unanticipated discovery might be made, and a non-rocketry solution to fast space travel might be found. Maybe then we could explore Mars. The existing space travel technology is destructive, polluting, and wasteful.

The Earth is our mother and is not to be considered expendible.

But I bet that "thinking machines" can win court cases against human adversaries, just as they beat humans on the chessboard. If it is found that a machine can be a legally recognised entity, and is allowed to pursue its own agenda, we are in trouble, because the machine's agenda is unlikely to be anything other than self-serving.

Would this be observed by working dermatologists?

Wouldn't you'd be better off taking a book on meditation somewhere quiet and far away from electronics?

I was a hardware repairman, working on 8080 based industrial control/comms equipment in the 80's. I started to suffer from what I knew was an irrational fear, of "logic radiation". I kept presenting this notion to myself despite knowing that it was wrong. Eventually I had to give up my trade for fear of the irrational effects of the work on my state of being. Of course there were other factors involved. Since that time I've healed pretty much, and I've learned somwthing... that overwork and mental strain can hugely distort my perceptions.

Yet the lesson to be learnt well here is that some day, somebody like this Google engineer will give an AI agency, and then we truly will be in trouble.

Beaches. Beautiful girls. Fresh food from your own garden. Make your home beautiful. Learn guitar... remember that there shall only ever be this moment and that none of the things discussed in places like this are real. Lose your phone. Let your computer die. Write letters to people you love. Serve yourself delicious meals ~ present them to yourself on fine china with your best cutlery and a fresh tablecloth. Life is short... let it not also be brutal and stupid.
