there is a perception that ultrasound is not as dangerous as xrays (radiation etc). As we find more use-cases for it we need to be aware that the damage caused by blasting organs with energy waves is not negligible.

idk if that would work in real life. there are cases where one sibling gets less than another and judges still rule things have to be split equitably and children should be provided for.

blogging was like a diary, mostly authentic with people just primarily focused on sharing. some with banner ads on the site to get pocket change.

then with substack, social media monetisation, etc everything became income focus. writers got taken over by influencers and content became focused on grabbing attention. didn' take long for readers to leave after that.

costco buyers typically buy in bulk and fill a pantry in one go. i doubt one truck can fill 100 pantry. maybe a few products each

it's also not easy to just apply for a chargeback in some jurisdiction. they are betting you will just give up and chalk it up as an expensive lesson.

kinda depressing the race general intelligence is motivated by the potential to profit from ad sales.

there's no point in getting another chip. the existing chip will still work, you can just register the data with another database.

it's not useless. it just produces a number that is stored on a database. you can register it with another database if needed, although it would have been good if someone could transfer the records from the ailing company.

unfortunately i think a lot of AI models put more weighting on videos as they were harder to fake than a random article on the internet. of course that is not the case anymore with all the AI slop videos being churned out

the researcher documented a cow using a stick to scratch itself. no doubt they're intelligent animals but describing them as using 'sophisticated tools' is a bit of a stretch.

this behaviour is quite common in cattle and other animals, often seen rubbing or using sticks to scratch spots. sometimes it is dangerous as they find fences with nail poking out and cut themselves when rubbing to to calm an itch.
