Do a lot of scraping at work. Curious how you handle simulating UI interactions? Or if I can supply cookies in my requests?

I really want something like this that will work for pages behind a login. Would love it for my bank and credit card transactions all in one place, without having to use a 3rd party data mining service.

Funkhaus | https://funkhaus.us | Technical Director, Junior Partner Remote or Onsite, but must be +/- 2 hours of Los Angeles timezone, no visa

---

Funkhaus is a digital agency working at the intersection of strategy, design, content, and technology.

Developers at Funkhaus work across a wide range of projects for all kinds of creative clients, from design driven websites for the world’s best filmmakers and production companies, to forward thinking e-commerce, webapps, and editorial website experiences. We use Nuxt.js, Headless WordPress and Shopify a lot, but our work takes us into all sorts of interesting areas, so it helps to be well versed in emerging tech.

We’re searching for a thoughtful and motivated Technical Director to join our growing company and oversee an engineering team of 5 frontend engineers. You’ll work magic as a go to person for our design, engineering, content and clients teams for all things technical. You will oversee the day to day of an award winning, high volume digital agency's programming pipeline. You’ll drive the quality of the entire technical team.

You will report to the Managing Director and have limited access to the Technical Founder for guidance.

* What we’d like to see:

  - For this English speaking role, we’re looking for someone with 8+ years of experience in a similar capacity at a high end, international level.
  - Hands-on knowledge of prevailing technical stacks, predominantly Nuxt, Vue and Shopify is essential as we produce ever more advanced projects.
  - You’re experienced in providing quick ballparks and accurate project estimates, clearly defining the scope and underlying assumptions.
  - Teamwork is at the core of how you work. You know when you need to acquire help from a specialist to help you reach the common end goal.
  - Be the technical point person when pitching for new projects.
  - Create and ensure adherence to technical standards by the engineering team.
  - Maintain a culture of excellence in our programming team.
* Requirements:

  - At least 6+ years frontend experience, 4+ years with Nuxt or Vue.
  - Live on +/- 2 hours of Los Angeles timezone.
  - Experience in technical leadership and mentorship.
  - Good knowledge of design patterns and best practices in development.
  - Good knowledge of modern build pipelines and tools (CI/CD).
  - Good knowledge of the code review process.
  - Experience with using a headless CMS.
* Bonus points:

  - Experience with Static Site Generators (Netlify).
  - Experience with Shopify.
  - Experience with WordPress plugin development.
  - Demonstrated capability building highly animated websites.
* Salary:

  - $120k to $180k depending on fit.
  - As Junior Partner you will also earn a company profit share.
* How to apply:

Email me directly with a resume and ideally a link to some code you've written. [email protected].

I run a 20 person digital agency in Los Angeles.

The amount of time we have to spend each year sorting out our healthcare for the entire company is mind blowing. You are totally correct, it becomes a full time job for 3 or 4 weeks for myself and another partner. So much effort and knowledge required for something that isn’t even our core business! And it inevitably causes drama with employees who don’t like some part of the group plans we end up with. Very stressful.

We only offer it as our employees all say that this benefit is really important to them. I didn’t know it was a tax break for us to be honest.

I wish more employees thought like you did. Our average monthly cost per employee is about $500 for a “silver” PPO plan, and about $110 for dental. Average age of our employees is below 30.

I’d gladly pay employees the $610 extra a month just so we don’t have to deal with it and the drama that comes with it. This would actually save us money from the energy wasted dealing with insurance companies. And no one who’s dealt with our insurance plans over the years has had a positive experience. My brother (who worked for my company) cut his chin while out of state. Required 2 stitches, and he just walked to the closest ER to get them. $3500 it ended up costing him, even with our insurance and countless hours fighting the insurance companies too. Didn’t even see a doctor, a nurse did the stitches. It’s a joke.

Other than salaries, health insurance is the largest expense for our business. Think about that at the scale of the entire economy and its mind blowing the wasted energy/effort on this “system”.

I’m originally from Australia. We have “socialized” healthcare there. My brother is back visiting family currently and got an x-ray and ultra sound for $310. The American system is absolutely embarrassing.
