What do they teach you at university nowadays??? When I was in university studying computer engineering (almost 20y ago) we were taught networking a very thoroughly! Not only every technology involved but even the small details of how everything worked (from Ethernet cable based network using csma/cd to WiFi). We even studied in details ALOHAnet!

I have been a home owner for roughly 20 years by now and I don’t think I spent more than 5k euros in maintenance so far…

6% interest rate? Things are crazy in the US! For my house I got 0.9% fixed rate over 10 years. No yearly fees.

As someone that has been living near Nice for the past 11 years I can tell you that rents outside tourists areas aren’t that high… not cheap but not 1k either

He was also driving without a driving license (in France you can’t drive if you are 17)

On my area my salary seems relatively above average for my role/experience… I live in Côte d’Azur. I could earn a bit more changing company but I am not that keen to change… I just had a son and the relaxed environment allows plenty of time to spent with him!

Honestly I feel poor reading your salaries… although I do live in France where you can have a good standard of living with less! In my case around 60k for 35h a week… 15 years of experience.

As an Italian the government can’t really take away my citizenship (there are only 2 cases in which it can and both involve working for a foreign government and refusing to cease to work for it). And with my citizenship I can work everywhere in the EU. In fact I have been living for the past 15 years in France and I have no intention to get the French citizenship.

You fire them… it’s harder than in other places put you can still do it. You just need a valid reason! I had at least a couple of colleagues other the years being fired! At least employees are not victims of the employer every whim! And this is a good thing!

Country law state 30 days for my kind of contract… but since I work more than your normal contract (in France the work week is 35h a week whilst I work 37h) I get extra 5 days. On top of that I have 5 days for sick children and unlimited sick days.

I have 7 weeks plus bank holidays… but I am not in the US (mandatory days… you are obligated to take them all)

I am surprised by the amount of people doing psychedelics here! I know no one… and even expanding the drug pool at best I know a guy doing weed maybe once every 2 years. Is that common in the US doing drugs?

Are you sure you have been using chatgpt? In all my tests it understands logic extremely well! With version 4 it is even way better!

If you ask to set it in the forgotten realms it reuses existing factions without using tokens! With gpt4 it’s amazing! It is better than my actual human dm!

Or simply don’t marry someone you have just met! (And by “just met” I mean someone you haven’t been in a relationship with for at least 5 years)

“” Marathon" means to run slowly for a long time.”

This quote is factually false. Marathon is a place in Greece where a big battle against the Persian Empire took place. A running competition is named after it due to a legend about a soldier that had to run from Marathon to Athens to report the result of the battle.

It really depends where… in Europe we have good salaries but not crazy stuff like in the US

I work in France… the company I work for is travel related… and we have thousands of employees. During the pandemic we did not let go a single person! We had 2 years of basically zero revenue and the most we did was offer very juicy severance package for people willing to go or to retire early!

Or live in a country that by law paid leave for sickness (yours or your kids) and vacations (I have 35 days off a year… and I am obliged to take them all)!
