The following has worked marvellously for me. More than half of my team is remote:
1) Sync up once in a day - at a fixed time - for a fixed duration, with a clear agenda for every one to tell their plan for the day.
2) At EOD every body share a two liner update on Asana.
1) You can opt for job roles where your perks are directly linked to your efforts - eg: Sales, Marketing.
2) There are side projects which can get you really decent and increasing revenues. You need not be a big visionary and build a company around it but you with the help of some freelancers can manage it. I can help you with some ideas if you want.
We are a 7 member team and only 3 come to office. Rest 4 are in different cities - but same time zone.
We use the following
1) https://appear.in/ => Good conferencing tool
2) Asana -> to plan
3) Google docs to share the docs
4) Google chat & whatsapp web to chat
I ran a grocery ecom marketplace earlier. Getting catalogue up and running from each store used to take pretty long time, POS wont have images but just barcodes and short names.
So we developed this tool called Stockpile. It had
1) Admin app - web
2) Mobile data collection app
Every day the server identifies products that do not have images, and from which store.
The on field data collector goes to the corresponding store. The app will display bar codes and short names.
He goes ahead and scans the bar code and takes image.
Over time we also added intelligence in the office admin app to fuzzy match product names and reduce the effort of offline data collection.
Using this, we could onboard a store and make them online with 12000 SKUs within 4 hours.
Transfer on Google playstore happens pretty fast. There are not much complications - you ve to follow the steps that's all.
Make sure that copyright and ownership issues are clear between parties. Don't transfer any ip code/trademarks which you want to continue using in other apps.
Also in my past experiences, there needs to be retrospective of what worked and what did not. Provision to include analysis to arrive at data driven decisions will add a lot of value to your service.
