Fuck. I was just there and wondering how much money they could be making. The stores are so big and seem so empty compared to the Best Buy next door.
I was comparing studio monitors and headphones with the intention to buy there in the near future and got good advice from the guy working there about everything I asked, he had first hand experience with all the stuff I was looking at.
They could gain more of the premium market. Or they could just stick an” year old a14 and make a slightly lower end 799 macbook in search of more market. They don’t necessarily need to start making 299 cheapo laptops to gain market share.
Yep, people who actually care about tech and hardware are applauding this. Anti-Apple and x86 fanboys are the ones doing everything they can to discount it.
> Apple didn't specify if they're counting by model or total sales, but virtually everything in the Gamer Laptop category is going to be faster in virtually every measure.
Not a single one will beat it in single core performance.
Why is the clock speed relavant? Yes it lower than the highest end x86 chips, but the PPC is drastically higher. They don’t want clueless consumers thinking clock speed matters to performance.
What was “old” about the previous MacBook Air? It was ice lake. Also, the new one is even more “thermally constrained” because it doesn’t have a fan. What’s your point?
It seems odd to be so cynical about a drastic performance increase yoy and a breakthrough in performance per watt. I bet if it wasn’t Apple you would be a little more excited.
