I think it will atleast take one month to set up correct flow for user authentication for both their subscribers and for API's (Cursor etc).

Others are thinking such a export control ban is good for them as it shows entire world Anthropic models are best, I disagree. It will wreck the company, IPO considerations etc, when the models may be best but their are no users to use them.

If such an export control ban stays in place for this particular model or future models of Anthropic, revenue will be affected. My guesss is around 50% of subscribers are non-US citizens, meaning direct 50% revenue loss.

Altman/Musk used to also do moral superiority, "Dangers of AI", lobbying to ban "non-safe" models etc. But they largely stopped doing it after 2025. While Anthropic/Dario increased the intensity of moral authority, and got hit back with exactly they were asking for.

If self-driving vehicles can be used for petty burglary, eventually it will also be used for more serious crimes like contract murder etc.

Actually there is no way to find who is inside the vehicle. If the criminal covers his face, his hands (no DNA, Fingerprint) and uses stolen info (phone number, credit card), police will have a very tough time with such crimes.

I recently got free 5TB storage for one year with the Google AI Pro plan, as I had ported my SIM card to another carrier, new carrier had some sort of partnership with Google.

It was 2 TB originally, but fews days later on they just increased it to 5TB. Just bonker level of storage (for free).

The reason is basically that you are "required" to hire other "Indians".

If you get a job at a good company on your own merit, you immediately start getting calls to "refer" your college friends, family, people from your region/state.

Refer here means refer it to HR and make some "setting" that you are guranteed to be hired based on your "reference". Naturally reference would mean that considering you are an employee you would know about open positions and may refer the position to your friend, who would later on get the job on his own merit considering that he is skilled for the position along with required experience.

But the case for Indian employees is that a reference entails to scam the company itself, by letting a less skilled person into the company by making a "setting" with HR etc, who may themselves be from the same region/state.

And if you try to be morally upright person to deny such a scammy "reference", you would then get to listen verbal abuses from your friends and even from your own family members. To deny such a reference leads to straight up "banishment".

Tip:- Among 100 Indians if you see, only 1 or 2 are actually good at their job (or by morality).

Not every war can be fought from air, there needs to be soldiers on the ground.

In fight against ISIS, the Iraqi amry, Shia Militias, Kurds and others were ground forces while Allies were in Air. In Afghanistan & Gulf War, US forces were on ground.

But in these "conflict", no party is ready to send ground forces, ground forces to stop the air drones, ship drones etc. So the "blockade" will probably continue.

Interesting read. I always wondered from where did the idea about "thesis" & other "extra-circular" activities come from, for both students and professors.

Nowadays, promotions of professors for different levels (Assistant, Associate, Professor) is solely dependent on number of papers they are publishing in Q1 journals. But the research maybe entirely bogus, same ideas repurposed hundreds of times by different professors.

The entire concept about "systematic knowledge" has gone downhill.

FB messenger is largely used in US. In non-US countries everyone uses Whatsapp.

If they drop whatsapp to combine both of them, it will have quite serious effects and completely ruin the whole 'thing'.

That is a bogus index. Even the government denied it's reporting https://www.firstpost.com/explainers/global-hunger-index-ind...

(Any government will try to say the same thing, to save its face)

But right now, the welfare state is still working (free/discounted food for lower income class). Anecdotally speaking, there is no such 'hunger' observed even in beggar communities. All are pretty much well fed. Due to opening of the economy in 1991, people have become 'rich' and the welfare state has subsequently reduced.

If we are talking about nourishment or nutrient intake, it is also not observed to be lower to the scale the index paints. Even during lockdown and covid pandemic, 200 million or more people were given free/discounted food everyday. There might be more hunger during the lockdowns, covid deaths; but not to high extent the index says compared to other countries.

The index paints the 'hunger' levels on the scale of DPRK or Afghanistan which is just not possible (laughable), if anyone sees it from first hand perspective. I have always been suspicious of the index from the very beginning. Even the past decade reports are suspicious.

'Zero-Click' is just a new buzzword, it probably got popular due to Pegasus and NSO.
