8-10pm for the supermarkets near me & well later than that is night not evening :) It's certainly not 5pm is what I meant.

Supermarket opening times are definitely not that restrictive (these days, but I don't recall it ever being like you mentioned & I moved to Berlin in 2013). The ones near me are usually open early morning till late evening (8-10pm), monday to saturday.

The results of that election were thrown out the window
Might be good to mention the result of that election were Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood (the originator of many jihadist movements like Al-Qaeda).

Some companies are badly managed (at least in some aspects). But it’s also true that some devs need to be pushed - sometimes forcibly - out of their comfort zone.

I’ve had multiple instances of taking months/years to get some devs to use a more sophisticated git client than GitHub Desktop (so they could properly do anything but the most trivial merges/rebases for example). Or to learn how to use the debugger instead of just printing/logging for debugging. For some of them getting them to seriously figure out how to better use AI required a bunch of repeated prodding.

Funnily enough a few years ago they enthusiastically jumped on copilot’s fancier autocomplete in VS Code, but getting them to really figure out how to get the most out of Claude Code required more pushing.

Any subject matter experts care to chime in with your gut feeling about where this sits in the "promising potential treatment" to "AI psychosis" spectrum?

> Based on such a basic mistake

The mistake of 'h' instead of 'y' typo?

Not just the USSR, Warsaw Pact countries in general (e.g. Prague was disproportionally well funded in Czechoslovakia in comparison to other cities - even accounting for its size and population) and probably authoritarian countries in general tend towards it. Of course in general the biggest cities/capital cities tend to be richer than smaller/less important cities but the comment was about the magnitude of the phenomenon in the USSR.

They didn't write how old the kids were, there's a big difference between a 3 year old and a 12 year old.

I run a company of 4 people (including myself) and the "apple tax" (if by that you mean the price premium of macs and iphones vs PC and android) is a tiny fraction (borderline rounding error) of my budget.

But we know global GDP per capita (a proxy to wages)- the US represent about 25% of total global GDP (a metric which accounts for US wages being higher than average). I’m not being contrarian, I genuinely think the addressable market is the global market and not just the US (and by a wide margin) and as such thats the real potential of anthropic/openai/et al.

Why only US wages rather than global wages? The US is the biggest economy but it’s still only a minority of the global economy.

> 99 per 100 software devs are not fired

While far from 99%, there’s been a lot of layoffs in the last couple years and less hiring such that anyone that has been looking for work can tell you’re there’s a massive in experience before and after ~2023.

There are some valid points in there but “Europe” is too vague a label for this post. It’s the difference between Greece and the US (or Greece and SFBA).

Phoenix often has kid-appropriate documentaries, and sometimes ARD and ZDF. Phoenix is the channel they watch the most, by far.

Don’t give kids YouTube access. More curated platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime at least filter out the worst dreck.

I find German public tv (I live in Germany) actually has relatively high quality programming for kids. I rather have my kids watch TV than streaming (when they’re allowed screen time), we bought a TV after almost 20 years of not having one.

I think it’s a class divided too- (financially) poor parents give their kids their phone but richer/more educated parents don’t.
