I already see a bunch of uninformed and transphobic arguments, including phrases such as "harmful to women" without including trans women, assuming sex is completely decoupled from gender, sex is binary (do you really think it's possible to have true binary in a physical world, let alone in a natural process?), and classical "I know their gender better than themself and nobody can object."
I know what HN demographics are like and what they work with, and it's not LGBT. So please, get yourself educated.
i see this popping up around the internet every now and then and it's always the same few dudes who advocate "for nuclear". not "use nuclear and renewables" mind you, it's "nuclear good renewables bad". i genuinely wonder why.
nuclear power is inherently lethal. not nuclear plants, nuclear energy. to keep it safe, you need a. tons of money, and b. stable government. miss one and you won't build plants. if you have both, might as well build more cheaper and faster alternatives like renewable energy.
so you're saying "it's a security, but it shouldn't be treated as security because security law forbids <enter activity here>", which means you want to break the law.
they tried to break the law so it's not allowed. i don't see a problem here
COVID-19 is a smart disease, it comes off as a mild disease at first but it can still spread easily. You can even spread it without feeling symptoms yourself. If a person feels too ill to not be moving around, it would already have passed the virus down to many contacts.
Social distancing is therefore vital when patients keep coming out of nowhere. If there's a group of people they could easily spread the virus before they even know. If people don't listen, it may have to be enforced for public safety. It's the approach China, Singapore, and South Korea have done and succeeded in various levels.
Singapore is literally touching the equator, and the coronavirus there keeps spreading. Local transmission has outnumbered imported cases a while ago. Temperature & humidity really isn't going to help.
when western people had iodine deficiency because of their diet, they added iodine in salt, not modifying wheat DNA to contain seaweed's DNA so that it contains iodine.
this article is a solution in search of a problem.
it's not a huge investment, and does not cost any money; market share really doesn't matter here when you can get in easily. you also can download the app on their website without installing their store app.
also keep in mind that telegram definitely can distribute their app on their website, like they do with desktop apps.
One thing i was very surprised coming from Korea is that you had to pay fines if your book is overdue. I've never experienced or heard of such things in Korea. What we do instead is not allowing you to borrow books for the amount of days it has been overdue.
I have a 5 years of experience in tinkering with After Effects (which doesn't mean that much but I can get around doing stuff)
I tackled various realm of creative production, namely motion graphics and electronic music. This all started when I was using Windows and pirated program of famous tools like AE, but I was able to get around in Linux with FOSS tools. I use LMMS like a pro. I even used GIMP on Windows.
This was NOT the case with video production. I was making a simple lyrics video on kdenlive, but I had to scrap the project because every time I tried to add a little bit of effect, it was half-baked or simply impossible. I cannot change size of the video without having a major headache on anchor points. I cannot "crop" a content right on kdenlive. The problem? Kdenlive is actually the most feature-rich video editor I ever tried on Linux.
If you only do light editing it may work for you, but ONLY light editing. You can't have custom stuff going on as video creation tool is basically not there. I also use it as a subtitle tool... which basically sums up what your expectation should be.
