technically - yes, it frees me from being part of (google/fb/twitter... whatever network is trendy now) and still sign in, practically,at the present moment, no - only geeks know about it
Edit/update: if compromised, you loose all linked accounts, however, with google/fb/.... it is the same, but this is less leaky to 3rd party, if this comes as default login, then we would have only a dozen of logins (persona/email, + important accounts, e.g. banking something similar... ), not ~100 of them, thus resetting 100 passwords is just 1 action
I agree with that, this requires certain mindset and skill, however I have seen some dismissing attitude from HR "specialists" and alike while real world seems to be quite different
I have very good economics/management degree from cool school in my country/country group, however, it makes me much better person in IT than persons with good education in the field, why? Because I care and understand much more about processes and people behind code written than average IT guy, also - I'm much more inclined to do my "homework" (research) and make solution for process not try fitting some idea in process thus making it awkward
because of network effects that will kick in when Linux finally reaches market share that has to be respected (I expect that to be somewhere close to 10 %), this is much more important. And now when Steam came to linux, that can be kickstarted, thus never say never :)

I would like to see how it fits in the pool on 2GB linode (mentioned in the article), also, I like that people try to think before saying "big data" and grabbing some NoSQL that is not very good fit in some places or gigantic mapreduce in 67 servers.

this doesn't mean that Google CDN is down the same times that your server is, thus it adds downtime (or time when something is broken in the site), i.e. if your server doesn't work, nothing works, if your server works but CDN doesn't, again something is broken and if this time doesn't overlap, it is just additional risk, even if tiny one.
Also, what happens when Google decides to charge for use of the CDN?
well, that would not work well with backwards compatibility, also it adds extra protocol to implement to browser vendors (extra bugs, here they come :)
I don't think that CSS sprites should be bigger, given that css is improving, I don't know about the sample analysed, but usually the editorial and user-contributed content images (as well as ads) take much more bandwidth than style related images, unless the site has exotic design.

ok, but the article says that there is more images (btw, other media too), i.e. images make 50% of web page now and image size growth contibutes ~400KB out of ~900KB, images tend to change, given that top 1000 pages are dynamic, thus, no cache will help. Also I find it interesting that stylesheets are growing, given that css3 are more powerful now and IE6 is likely to be retired for most of these sites. What is interesting is what makes this "other" part? is it just webfonts or some media (also very cross-site cache friendly)?

Exactly, G+ Twitter, FB are content exchanges with value added in form of comments and discovery in my opinion, not content creation places. P.s. Google returns 404 on his G+ profile, is it correct http code? Shouldn't it be something from 5 while case is being resolved at least?
