There is a similar podcast, "Boring Books for Bedtime": https://www.boringbookspod.com/episodes.

The problem with that podcast is that most of their selections are genuinely interesting - I even listened to them on long drives (e.g. "Origin of Species"). Even something I thought would boring like or "Farm Engines and how to Run" them turned out to be fascinating.

This one, on the other hand, seems to be genuinely boring. I couldn't get past the intro.

Good examples, but this one didn't make sense to me:

>Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game disappeared from Xbox and PlayStation stores in December 2014 when a license expired. Players campaigned for years before a remastered edition arrived in 2021.

I mean, physical stores can also stop selling a certain game. Existing sold games were unaffected. Why does this matter?

Isn't that the system working as expected? Presumably a more just outcome is more likely because of your colleague's testimony.

>Unfortunately the billionaires are running away from us exponentially faster than we are catching up.

Why does that matter? Who is trying to catch up with a billionaire? They are not even playing the same game as the rest of us.

You can reverse the charges on debit cards, but the money is withdrawn at the time the charge is made. This is not the case for credit cards.

> [Whether or not the critter has moved, we need to adjust the sword-glow, because the player may have moved.]

That must be a comment, right?

In that case: "The critter [one of]slouches[or]slithers[or]shambles[or]lurches[at random] away.";

[one of] [or] [at random] are also comments?

According to the article he was using the free ChatGpt tier at first, I til someone gifted him a Pro subscription to encourage "vibe-mathing'.

>This sounds like something you'd read about in a third-world country in the 19th century.

Not even then. Neither third world country doctors nor 19th century physicians would confuse the liver for the spleen.

I find the noise complaint story hard to believe. Cops know what a "noise complaint" is.

This sounds like a generic urban legend "A friend of a friend told me".

If something like this happened, it would have to be in the news, right?

I agree and have the same reaction, but I also wonder how long before we accept "ChatGPT" source like we do Wikipedia.

For ChatGpt answers we reasonably expect to cite actual sources rather than "Source: ChatGPT".

For Wikipedia, most of us just stop at "Source: Wikipedia".

I tried to do reverse translation on this.

The first time it said "I just took a massive shit". Then I round-tripped it and it said "I just fired a bunch of people".

You can choose your own "language".

I chose "Telling you how it is cut the crap" and fed it some corp speak from other comments and it did pretty well.

The way I think of it is this:

Imagine you have a ruler. You want to cut it exactly at 10 cm mark.

Maybe you were able to cut at 10.000, but if you go more precise you'll start seeing other digits, and they will not be repeating. You just picked a real number.

Also, my intuition for why almost all numbers are irrational: if you break a ruler at any random part, and then measure it, the probability is zero that as you look at the decimal digits they are all zero or have a repeating pattern. They will basically be random digits.
