if you have some cheap speakers, set hardware volume somewhere over 50% and then never touch it. Use the software volume. That's because the hardware volume button will almost certainly break (mine were Logitech).

about NDA: I've worked with a friend on an idea. It was my idea. Because of the way he worked I decided I don't want to continue on that project. He continued anyway. The funny thing is that even though I told him all the details of my idea and I helped him even after I stopped working, he didn't build my idea. The result was similar with what was done before and so was not enough to differentiate in the market. Essentially he did all the easy stuff without understanding why it was so important to do the hard/new stuff.

and what is this? "If the state endows the money with value". Money have a certain value because everybody using them agrees on that value. Dictatorships tried and failed to "endow the money with value". What happened in my country was that some alternative, valuable papers were created. Like a card for bread ratio. That piece of paper had value even if nobody was calling it "money". Or other papers that gave you some rights like buying a car, getting an apartment, vacation tickets etc.
I just want to point out that yes, there is a big difference between airtime and actual money. When I buy credit for my pre-paid card, if I want 5 euros credit, I will pay 5 euros + VAT. But because people pay in our local currency, most of them don't notice. So 5 euros credit it's a product and you have to pay VAT. 5 euros deposited in a bank are actual money and you don't have to pay VAT. Of course, this only happens because of legislation.
I like this. The more succesful it will be, the closer we will get to a pay-for-content web. Also, the payments methods will need to get much simpler.
Offtopic: I had this ideea of an ad blocker for tv. It will be some device that you can place very close to your tv and it listens for comercial breaks. When it identifies one, automatically turn the volume very low.
Prepaid SIMs were introduce because they are simpler for the customer and for the company. You don't need to sign a contract, customer will always pay. It works great in countries where people don't have a lot of money.
To sign a contract you need some postal address. There are countries where a lot of people simply don't have a postal address.
With postpaid SIMs the company will need to wait one whole month until they send the first bill, and then maybe another month until they reach the conclusion that the customer will not pay. What if the customer makes calls worth $1000 in two months? how do you get back that money in countries where it's really hard to enforce the law?
To prevent this some companies ask for a deposit for like $500. Good luck with that in Africa!
Also now, you can get the same "options" like a postpaid card. You put credit on your prepaid card and then activate one or more of the "options". I have one option that gives me 1 cent per minute voice calls. The price of the option is $1 per month. Because the price of the options are substracted from the prepaid credit every month, it works like a postpaid contract: $x every month for a list of benefits.
Prepaid is the right way to bill customers. The reason for not being the first and only way to bill customers is that for prepaid the billing is done in real-time. You need to cut the call exactly the second the credit hits 0. Imagine what real-time billing means for large countries like India.
Wholesale yes, but it's easy to get a card if you really want, and a lot of people in Romania have a card. Also you can get a one day pass. Worth it, because they negotiate very low prices with the suppliers.

When I signed in I was expecting to automatically see the public chat room for that page or website (not sure how it works). Instead I saw a list of users. I don't want to talk with any of them, I don't know them. Instead if I could see some history of the public chat, then I might have something to say/ask. It looks to me that the chat is set up the same way as Facebook chat. But in Facebook you talk with friends, while on a random site you talk with strangers and I think this needs to be reflected on how the chat works: you have a button for the chat, you click it, the main public room is displayed with the latest messages and maybe next to that the users list and maybe other public rooms.
After a while, I saw the other public rooms at the bottom. I closed them and I could not find a way to open them again.
Some users are green (active?), some are black (idle?) and some have a picture (active? idle?).
Why I'm not in the user list? I know it says "x other people are..." but if I'm on the site, I should be in the list.
The application looks solid but it needs some tweaking. Of course, as some people here might say, this is just one data point. Mine.
What is a click? Is it just an indication of a person solving a little mystery along the route of his quest? Is it an experiment? Is it a nervous tick? Or all of the above?
Sometimes the window losses focus and I just click somewhere on the page so I can scroll again. Some pages are so dense that there is no place to click. And if they used white ads, on white sites that would look like empty space.
