Many modern Linux distros encourage restarting too. Atomic distros make restarting to boot into a new image the default, though some have flags to do a "live" update too.

You still have to reboot for things like kernel updates. As far as I'm aware, live patching the kernel is just for security issues.

For me,

* available on Linux and macOS

* settings easy to transfer, just a file

* comes with Jetbrains Mono Nerd font built-in, no need to install it separately

* supports ligatures

I don't see the trend reversing, but if we're lucky, perhaps a freeze. Won't get more efficient but may not get worse.

I just tested Chromium with uBlock Origin Lite (default settings, aka "Optimal") and had no issue blocking YouTube ads.

I used Gemini Pro to convert health data from a .csv and import it into Apple Health. Worked first try.

I just hope the AI Apple use is smart enough for the task. And that giving the AI information it needs is easy (such as a snippet of the health data so it knows what it's working with).

> here is no support for accessibility for the visually (or otherwise) disabled in KDE Plasma's wayland

I'm sure accessibility is far from perfect, but in this case, I doubt that's true. KDE has a blind developer working on accessibility: https://mastodon.social/@acidiclight

When it comes to programming, it’s very easy to tell whether it’s right or wrong. Just run the code.

The small/fast model used for the overview isn’t smart, but it’s still pretty great at helping me find the function I need and syntax. Best of all, clearly and plainly, unlike many documentation pages.

OpenBSD's primary purpose is to create artwork (https://www.openbsd.org/artwork.html), releasing an OS is a side project.

Rather than just having the options "Done" and "Move to Bin", give me an option to actually run it without having to manually go into System Settings each and every time without disabling security features?

The added friction feels more like a way to force developers to pay Apple an annual fee for distributing rather than for my safety. Not saying it doesn't help with safety, just that it's more weighed to the former.
