Switching your card when using Apply Pay as part of checkout on website was better when tapping the card icon allowed you to switch the card you are paying with but since iOS 26 that is for editing your billing address… if you want to change the card you have to select option below that with no icon titled “Other Cards & Pay Later Options”
Lived in the same general area (just outside a major metropolitan area) where I use DarkSky and now Apple Weather app.
DarkSky has better data vis and more reliable prediction. Apple Weather consistently over predicts snow fall amounts and many times I’ve had to use the Feedback to correct it on current conditions (e.g. raining when it says no rain or vice versa). I believe DarkSky had the same feedback feature but I never needed it this much.
Most of the time AW is fine but it’s less good to the point I’ve considered alternatives.
I’ve always felt the sport loops (soft w/ velcro) provide the best contact with wrist while not being too cumbersome. Very easy to tighten just before a workout or loosen before bed. All the while it stays planted on my wrist. Unlock the rubbery band it normally comes with, which is prone to sliding around and less easy to adjust.
Perhaps we are not as unique as we’d like to believe.
The machine does not understand you. The machine can match your flavor of textual communication.
This can be done for audio with a relatively small number of samples. Your iPhone has a feature called Personal Voice which claims it can do it with 150 phrases/15 minutes of your time.
Guided access is for restricting access to one app. Not great for a multiuser experience. The AppleTV gets it right in a lot of ways but an iPad with faceID and/or fingerprint sensor could instantly recognize a given user and have their profile ready
I found it insightful. They showed us how to handle the rough edges like when it thought his face was a wooden table and he cleared the stale image reference by saying “I’m not a wooden table. What do you see now?” then it recovered and moved on.
Perfect should not be the enemy of good. It will get better.
Initial displacement will happen and it will require time for society to adapt and new industries to mature. The printing press significantly reduced the cost of producing books and other printed materials, which led to a dramatic increase in the availability of books, literacy rates, and the spread of knowledge. This technological advancement didn’t just replace the scribes; it created new jobs in printing, publishing, book selling, and eventually led to the creation of new genres of literature.
Good catch! I upgraded to Gemini Advanced to try it out for 2 months and figured I’d cancel. There does not seem to be a way to downgrade the plan without canceling and I was on the 100GB/yr plan through August. No discount on new monthly subscription. Bummer.
I am looking forward to seeing Apple execute on Generative AI. While I think shoving it into every product you can think of (Google, Samsung) might have unforeseen consequences, I don’t think the other extreme is the right play either. This field is moving fast and they may not have time to do it the Apple way.
Not sure about iOS 17 and the 15Pro but the haptics are different in iOS 16 and the 14Pro when flicking the switch back and forth. Unmute I get not haptics and Mute gets a stern triple shake. If they maintain something like that you should still be able to no look it. In my opinion, I like the customizability.
