I’m glad you brought that up. There was a minor renaissance we saw on cable tv with shows like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Storage Wars, etc., that brought up collecting old americana and the like to a younger generation. I think though it’s as you said, the dollar amounts were at the forefront of what was shown off more so than than the items itself.
I make good faith attempts to pass things like Franklin and Kennedy half dollars to younger folks in my life, while explaining some of the facts around them, hoping it plants a seed, much like when I was young.
Note that “science” in quotations is in regard to the inherent subjectivity of coin grading, but is in no way dismissive of the nuances and strive for consistency
Something fun I did with the contribution graph a couple of years ago. Lets you play Conway's Game of Life (sort of) with the graph. More crowded contribution graphs make for slightly less interesting generations. You can enable/disable cells if you'd like.
It's kind of strange how the query 'penatagon google' returns pages of uniform results, only articles containing variations of 'Google won't renew Pentagon contract'
Sometimes it's good perspective to be able to see where you started to compare to where you're at now. It helps a bit with the imposter syndrome I struggle with time to time.
I dug up a crappy, incomplete text adventure I made almost 6 years ago today. It was meant to be Fallout-like. I look at the main "Class" and chuckled at the overly procedural/non-reusable style of it. It makes me feel a little more confident in my current skills.
Been learning more about AWS' offerings lately. This is by no means groundbreaking, (I couldn't source enough quality hot dog images to train a TF model to an acceptable degree of accuracy) but just a fun way to test the chops of Amazon's image classifier :)
I never made a game of any kind before, so this was a fun project. Inspired by agar.io and slither.io, Snekpit is classic snake for many players at once. Check it out here: https://snekpit.herokuapp.com/
It's far from perfect, but I hope it provides you some temporary enjoyment :3 (It should work okay on mobile, but since snake by nature is precise it is a little more difficult)
