They are free to add whatever they want, if I'm free to not use it, to disable their stuff without break my OS. Because at the end, that is MY computer not Lennard's. I moved from Windows for that reason, avoid a OS that deprive me the authority on MY PC. If it won't be possible in future, I'm already studying OpenBSD. Anyway, my desire is a systems-free linux officially supported by major software houses.

Why you should if you don't have to ? Satellite phones are a thing at least since the 90s, but nowadays you prefer some kind of communication via Internet, possibly using wifi. Ok, emergency call, place out the civilisation, but those are same use case present 30 years ago. If you don't have to you want to use real cell towers or wifi. Also I think that to cover the communication needs of a single western rich country they have to increase the number of satellite drastically, with lot of side effects. So really satellites aren't new cell towers. Besides, is that type of infrastructure so profitable to justify its creation ? I want to say, if I wasn't able to do an emergency call the problem was dead battery, not absence of signal, in other cases I use the ol' dirty Marconi's wireless telegraph: the radio. Obviously , if I have a way to send sms from desert place, it's a "nice to have feature" not a necessity for the majority of us, so, again , how the company want to monetise from the infrastructure that is greatly expensive ?

I feel I have the duty to express my protest with the following comment that, I'm sorry is difficult to translate, in the spirit more then in the form, not only in English but also in Italian for people don't live in Rome: "A Melo' ma vattela a pijar 'under cool' !!! ". My kind regards to al the Italians following Hacker News.

In a country where the ignorant bureaucrats call computers "il cervellone" (big brain) this law has, as secondary goal, the task of hiding their stupidity!

This law IMHO is a expression of manifest incompetence because the ART.11 of Italian Constitution guarantee freedom of speech of opinion, so the "Corte Costituzionale" , the Italian tribunal competent in matter of constitutional question will abrogate this law at first instance. This is a sterile expression of blind nationalism and an offence to our constitutional values.

Those clowns we have at government are so stupid they don't remember the Art.11 of Italian Constitution, guarantee of freedom of speech and opinion: that law is explicitly unconstitutional and will be abrogated by the "Corte Costituzionale" , the tribunal competent in constitutional questions, at first appeal. Good job ! With all the urgent problem in Italy, lets waste public resources with this nationalist bullshit !
