As someone that's lived in Japan for 5 years, I'm surprised to see that Japan is second to last. The article mentions that "70% find it hard to learn" Japanese, which is a completely reasonable complaint, and I can understand why it motivates people to leave. But anecdotally at least, I've had a great experience living here. Many of the civil servants in Tokyo speak English, which makes getting settled pretty easy, and a lot of services have English speaking staff.

> Tokyo doesn't have many high rises.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "high rises", but I don't think this is true. I live in Tokyo, inside a 10+ floor building, that's surrounded by similar buildings.

Just off the top of my head, I can think of a lot of places with multiple blocks full of high rises, such as Ginza, Shibuya, Akihabara, etc

According to the article, Binance has $580 million locked up in FTX. But I thought that Binance sold all their FTX assets, which is what trigger the original bank-run on FTX. Was Binance not able to get their money out? If so, that seems disastrous for Binance.

I'm an American living in Tokyo, and it easily has the best quality of life out any city I've lived in.

- The public transit is literally the best I've ever seen, both in America or Europe. The main train line in Tokyo (the Yamanote line) stops at my local station ever 2-3 minutes during peak hours, and around every 5-7 minutes during the off hours.

- The streets are clean, safe, and well maintained. Unlike cities I've seen in America and Europe, garbage doesn't pile up in the streets.

- Service workers, partially in the government, have been friendly and helpful. Even when I didn't speak the language well, I've never had trouble at the government office getting something done.

I'm an American who has lived in Japan for the last couple of years. I think my quality of life is higher in Japan than it was in America. The streets & public spaces are cleaner, I always feel safe, and the public transit is incredible. Generally, it just seems that the Japanese city governments do a better job than American cities.

The only real pain point is communication, but my Japanese has gotten good enough that I can always express what I'm trying to say, and generally understood what other people are saying. Studying Japanese everyday does consume a lot of time though.

I expect to stay here for a least a couple of more years.
