The point of the book is to say that all the things of the old covenant (the priests, the sabbath, the commandments) are inferior to the new things. In the new, the 'sabbath' is Christ himself. We are to labour to enter into this rest.
That being said, I honour the original (pre-Sinai) shabbat by getting out and enjoying nature, thus honouring His creative acts. It's exhausting, not restful at all. I'm thankful that I live in a culture where I can dedicate the Sunday entirely to worshipping the risen Christ and rest, but as a believer I'd have liberty to do it on any other day if Sunday was not workable.
isn't by definition a monopoly the highest standard of inherent quality? (unless of course there has been coercion/force/aggression)
i kinda think that google got a 100% monopoly because at the time they were the best search engine (and remained so). and as soon as someone comes along who is better, the monopoly will end (i use ddg but i'll admit it's not as good. i like some of the cool hacks and features so i'm trying to stick with it). am i wrong?

There is no such thing. Either you code, and your code helps a company's devops requirements. Or you're in ops because you can't code. I need to collaborate less than devs do. My clients know for a fact that most of my work is done more productively at home in the quiet. Yes we need to talk, plan, work with others (sometimes) but who doesn't?
Do you contract for a few months at a time in $first_world_country?
I'm asking because I've been contracting in London for a couple years and I'm considering doing half the year here, then half the year something like what you describe. But I'd have to move the wife and (soon) kid twice a year. She says she's fine with that.
you're right. go find a country where producers and true capitalists are rewarded and powerful, instead of just the middlemen and managers, and you'll be a millionaire.
That time will come. And once technology starts being targets are making these SMEs (fishing boats, smallholders, etc) lives easier, the world will make a big shift for the better.

This. Lesson learned: the "over 150 developers" who literally threw away their time(i.e. money) working on this had the option to work on minetest instead. They didn't. Grow up, learn your lesson (I have in much more painful ways) and only use GPL.
I totally agree that Germany has a pretty good system. Their forest schools are a step in the right direction. But they did invent the Prussian model of modern schools (which are a curse).
The point is, it should NEVER be illegal to refuse to send your children to a militarized system which has stunted and de-humanized every single person in the modern system. In the UK, they ever tried to make Summerhill school a bunch of criminals. Also see Steiner schools, unschooling etc etc. The evidence would indicate that doing the BEST thing for your children would make you a criminal in most first world states. If you wonder why the electorate has become more malleable, "stupid" and gullible in the last 100 years, maybe you should look into why this is. It's not because we are "devolving" or because people are stupider now. They are forced, trained and educated to be thus.

then there's a list of things that are STILL around but have stifled competition anyways: gmail (hopefully people might get behind mailpile but i doubt it), gtalk (again, we have to wait another decade at least before a sensible IM standard is used), G+ (how many in the tech community have moved from one company (facebook) to another (google Plus). Just because they haven't axed a product like they did with reader of voice doesn't mean they won't misuse their power. Look at all the features they've removed from google maps because "mama google knows best". And no one dares to compete with them.
Hi, I have several good ideas, some of which I've already implemented on my own property, and thousands of (possibly) less viable ideas in my wastebasket. I'm an automation programmer/sysadmin and so everything I do has to be automatable. I've found thought that often things can be automated naturally, without arduino or anything. Here are things I would look at doing:
1. Grassland management. See Alan Savoury http://vimeo.com/80518559
Note: I would do this with a honeycomb structure of hedges with automatic gates.
2. Aquaponics. I have just finished/am finishing a ~60,000L aquaponics system at my house. Naturally automated (other than planting and harvesting, which can be automated/made efficient. See my blog (posted below)
Also read up on Ben Falk's research. If you're honestly wanting me to put something in place, we'd have to discuss the details and we'd have to fly out and put things in place. I lived in Wisconsin for years but I'm working in London now and honestly I'd be VERY interested in trying some things specific to the mid-west. Good luck!
