Skills have centralized too heavily around HTML/CSS/JS for GUI development, that to do otherwise locks out talent, and or oppurtunity, depending on your budget.
Electron enabled cross-platform localized applications where nothing else stayed within the budget, with developers you already had.
It isn't that no one cares about native GUI's, it is that it isn't commerical, except in rare circumstances (games, visualization software, giant applications built by 1000s of developers, probably).
That is fantastic. Like others have commented, I can nearly feel the lack of latency, where `Create new file` would open up a small modal with a text box to copy paste/type into.
Or `Clone or download` being immediately obvious as having 2 options, SSH or HTTPS.
I feel like I could show this to a trainee and they would understand each feature in under a few minutes.
I couldn't have imagined thinking that _that_ UI was the golden age of usability...
As someone presented with a startup that needs an "append-only" transaction database with consensus across 2-N servers (depending on scale), and an inherent incentive to exploit any potential "double-spend" issue, an internal blockchain with a single node acting as an authoritative "miner" (aka, controller) seems pretty cheap to roll out considering I can just modify existing bitcoin/blockchain software.
Is there any software out there that I could readily adapt to provide the same properties and guarantees without incurring hundreds of hours of development and testing?
