I think your definition of "Intelligence" is much too restricted. It is "Knowledge" which leads to "Wisdom" and makes you more "Intelligent" (for a certain definition.) "Knowledge" is the pre-requisite. It is what allows you to see the inter-play and interaction between concepts and ideas leading you towards better understanding thus making you more "Intelligent".
"deepglacier/bluetreeroot" are one and the same account engaging in "sock puppet" deception which is completely unethical. Moreover in my original post, i had actually pointed out his/her lack of knowledge on the subject matter and also listed a scholarly and peer-reviewed paper on the subject (see below). Instead all i got was more selective quotes in response. Thus my response was necessarily harsh in order to drive home the point that one needs a nuanced study of the subject and not just random quotes without context.
Like most people who have not studied the subject, you have gone with "sound bites" highlighting the negatives without any context thus distorting the whole discourse. In the interest of "personal edification" i suggest a study of the following;
Do you know that there are many texts called "Dharmasutras" (your cherry-picked quote is from Gautama's)? Do you know how the concept of Varnas began, debated, evolved and interpreted from ancient through medieval texts? Before the later texts there was no ideology of fixed Varnas but only a mapping of the concept of "purity" to something called a "Varna" i.e. the idea of a rigid "Caste" did not exist. It was a cultural manifestation during a certain period which had unfortunately propagated and later taken as the "truth". A careful study of Hindu Dharma texts would reveal the fact that it was never a single "ideology" like Islam/Christianity but a constantly evolving system of ideas towards a better Society.
I highly suggest reading Prof. Patrick Olivelles's paper "Caste and Purity: A study in the language of the Dharma literature" to really understand the issues involved.
PS: Wendy Doniger is a hack. Anybody who interprets thousand year old texts from a different place and time using modern sensibilities cannot be considered a "Scholar".
Renduchintala holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a PhD in digital communications and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Bradford in England.
Russia has been more sinned against than sinning. Gorbachev was lied to and manipulated with assurances of a "Marshall -like plan" to get him to dissolve the Soviet Union. During the Yeltsin years the West literally had advisors dictating every aspect of the Political, Economic and Monetary recovery plans in the newly formed countries. Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan were persuaded to give up their nukes in exchange for economic/monetary help. The result? They have been made irrelevant on the world stage and nobody cares about them anymore. Luckily Russia escaped worse fate and is now hitting back. Since then the entire Western media has been whipping up Russo-phobia everywhere.
>the universities somehow find them lacking in “personality”.
It is a pervasive stereotype of all Asians in the US to this day. Unless you act bombastic, are loud and spew BS, you are considered "not leader material". It is all about posing and not actual effectiveness.
>not interested in supporting violence or doing anything illegal
Who defines what is illegal? When the System and its laws are completely stacked against you, any change can only be brought about by going outside the System i.e. by engaging in "illegal acts". You are allowed to use anything and everything to bring about real Societal change. Racism and Police Brutality need to be stamped out once and for all in the US.
>The series is just a bunch of propagandist BS in a very nice package
Exactly! The series very cleverly blends fact with fiction (suggestions/nudges/omissions/conspiracy theories) to give an illusion of how everything was the fault of the scheming Soviets.
It was quite enjoyable but viewers interested in veracity should consult other sources.
Article is named "Delight of Development" but of course the author is "not a developer anymore".
>My focus now is less on building software myself, and more about enabling others build better software.
Translation: I don't produce anything but lord it over people who do. What the hell is "Developer Relations"? Has the industry gone mad?
Most of us got into programming because we enjoyed it; until the "Industry" with its useless "managemeent" layers destroyed our motivation/enjoyment of it and turned us into unhappy drones.
In order to be aggressive, you should train yourself to not be afraid of any possible consequences and sacrifices. Thats it!.
Most of the time, our imagined dragons/troubles never come to pass. People imagine all sorts of dire consequences and therefore do not act aggressively when required. You need to learn to push boundaries, keep your stress under control and always remember that the "other party" is as afraid of consequences as you are. The trick is to keep the pressure on until the other side "blinks". Watch any Nature conflict documentaries (eg. Lion documentaries where pride takeover often happens) and the principle should be clear.
Brinkmanship is the name of the game.
A study of Martial Arts texts will help in building up the necessary principles/techniques and "mental fortitude". A Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi is a good starting point.
