Spiritual successors are so hard to find.

I could use one for RadioUserland and another for CityDesk

But there are always counterexamples too ... Stephen Wolframs and Nassim Talebs

Ima hafta call baloney on this one ... If WalterBright was real he would'a wrote a language ... even better than C! Maybe throw in some memory management. Just sayin'

Plus, "Zortech" ... wth kind of name is that? Someone couldn't make this stuff up as fiction! And a journalist that knew the right question to see if you knew about C plus plus ... You almost had me til there.

deForest .. a man out of time.

Then there was Bones. And Forrest Mims guides at RadioShack!

SoundJam definitely had the better name though.

Under your theory, more respirations would work "in theory." I forget what they say about theory and practice ... Don't get an oxygen tank, "You'll burn your lungs out kid!"

Uncoupling mitochondrial metabolism can actually work with the risk that you will cook yourself to death from the inside out. i.e. 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) Look up the history and stories on this one! New mitochondrial uncouplers are out there now that modern pharma companies have caught on.

Squats and appetite suppression is the lazy person's way. I'd also look into the Country Club Wives' Club secrets. Nature or nurture?

Oh, but yes, that PP slide was bad. Symantic's More on a Mac Plus would have allowed a better job 15 years earlier.

Don't dare try to question the narrative with physics and science. A Feynman and an O ring in ice water or a Tufte on visualizations will always be hired in at certain levels. For heaven's sake never go down the rabbit hole about how often the shuttles lost heat tiles. It was the foam, unforeseen and unforeseeable.

Livecode works in that fashion but it might be too costly to explore. The learning curves are always steep in just finding out if an environment can do what you need. XOJO is another option, again for whatever reason, these types of tools lost out in the last Cambrian explosion. The free-ish versions of Delphi are out there, but again, by the time one factors in the cost of just sorting out the options, a lot of water has passed under the bridge.

Here are some comments related to ID2 from a Livecode forum ...

It's always a combination of capabilities and chance and adaptation. Without Mike Markkula there would have been no first Apple. The early docs are fascinating as well

Oh, and by the way, OS 9 Platinum was the high point of interface design. :)
