I don’t understand what human factors needs are being met here; probably none. Who is asking for backgrounds on Messages windows? Who is asking for these gratuitous animations? What is the design reasoning?
Probably someone from leadership in apple just doing to save their job.... And I upgraded today just to revert back.
I guess everyone in Apple has 20/20 vision.
The target audience is everyone who wanted their Mac to run iPadOS. Without a touchscreen.
Ugh. This is peak macOS enshittification.
It may have rough edges, but it doesn't fit the definition of Enshittification at all.

No this 100% is Enshittification - making the entire os a big shiny flashy jewel that's good for promo shots, but bad actual users, all to please shareholders.
