I had a couple drinks so having one of those moments. I am always so fascinated by the science and experiments done to prove what we know. I consider myself at least of average intelligence probably slightly above but the things scientists research and solve always blows me away.

My guess to the Fermi paradox is that there actually are intelligent life across the universe but just like in Star Trek they stay quiet until we reach a certain level of knowledge.

As a Canadian cool! Never heard of this school before but on the west coast so probably why.

I've watched many watch repair videos online and the knowledge base required is huge. Also there are many tools needed which are not cheap. There is just so much to know that takes years to learn. Very cool that the knowledge is being shared and the skill passed on. In my small town there was only one guy who worked on clocks and watches. He passed a while back and his kids continue with his jewelry store but they now send out watches and clocks to another business as none of his kids learned how to do it.

I have always felt that AI will be much like how we all now have a calculator in our pockets (despite our math teachers telling us that would never happen lol). For math yes one could sit and do long division and multiplication and so on but having a calculator as a tool obviously makes things so much faster. But you still need to have the knowledge of how math works like the order of operations for it to be correct in the end.

I picture AI coding being the same. Ya someone with no coding knowledge can probably vibe code a small project and have it work. But more complex projects I picture AI like the calculator speeding up the work but in the end one must still understand programing and be able to ensure that the code is correct for the goal.

What is sad is that a few irresponsible people are always what end up ruining something that most can manage to do without endangering others. Growing up it was a yearly thing where my family would go somewhere safe away from public and set off fireworks.

Fireworks are a lot of fun. Sure not everyone's thing but many enjoy them and can manage to use basic safety and not endanger anyone.

I just can't believe a firework going off right at an airport was not intentional. I believe someone was most likely thinking "I'm gonna lite this off right by a plane for all to see my awesome show!". Not trying to hit the jet but rather just look at me people isn't this awesome!? No it is not.

This is the type of thing that ends up getting fireworks banned or more controlled for the rest of us.

Reminds me of the idiot who flew his drone over an active forest fire while crews were actively fighting it causing the helicopters or water bombers to have to disengage the fire until the drone was gone. Then drone rules get tightened for the average guy just wanting to have fun responsibly.

Even with the increase in bloat on windows once I moved to an SSD the boot time went down to like 20 seconds. Never felt the need to do anything other than shut down if I was going to be away for more than a few minutes.

Because it has been shown that even if freedom is speech is a right that people will still be afraid to speak up if they know they are being monitored. Because the reality is that even if you are allowed to speak you might still be punished through other means.

This is much bigger than saying something illegal on the internet. This is about not being able to criticize your government without fear of retribution. Or how about if this was possible 60 years ago. Gays would have been all caught and gay rights never emerged. Or say you are discussing wanting an abortion and are arrested for arrested for it because at that point in time it is made illegal. The right to have private communication is integral to a free and democratic society. Morals change. Beliefs change. This is good. If you are monitored for everything we will be oppressed and stuck with no way to progress and grow.

This reminds me of the whisper game played in elementary school. Starts with a sentence and the person whispers it to the next kid who again whispers it and on and on until it goes around the circle where the last kid has to repeat the sentence. Hint it never once was even close to the starting phrase. I would love to see what one model copying another model that is again copied however many times would look like in the end.

My biggest concern with pirating has always been malicious programs. But companies still need to show value in their products or people will pirate.

What added value can Anthropic give users not available to pirating users? That is what they should ask themselves.

Uncertainty of how it all works is my opinion. Like how is it installed. What is making a partition and what are these warnings? What happens to all my pictures and documents? What distro is best? Do I lose all my paid for software? How do I now do all the things I am used to doing?

I remember the first time I partitioned my hard drive and did a dual boot and I was really unsure about so many things. It is intimating.

The only secret strategy I know only works against my good friends son who literally starts every new round of rock scissors paper with scissors. Play him 10 minutes later he starts with scissors.

We we noticed this so we began to say let's play a round and throw paper and lose. 5 minutes later repeat and lose again. THEN, once our drink was almost finished we would say come on one more game and if I win you have to go get me a can from the fridge. He would agree and we would this time throw rock beating him and winning. It works every single time. Lol

Reckless Ben's video I would rank as one of the top 3 best YouTube videos I have ever seen. I had never seen this guy before but this video was wild. It's a mix of reporting and trolling and questionable legal tactics. The evidence in the video seems pretty hard to dispute. Of course there is 2 sides to everything but I strongly believe bam is the bad guy here.

It also seems that there is a big percentage of people who are completely against AI music for a multitude of reasons. Even if they liked the sound they would still hate it if it was AI generated.

But to me this seems silly. Yes I want real artists to make music and be able to make a living not some faceless company spitting out endless music until something works. However at the end of the day if something sounds good then one should enjoy it not refuse to accept it simply because it is AI.

Because how far does their stance against AI go? They won't accept music. What about if AI created a cure that could save their child? Or what if AI could could sort through a massive backlog of evidence in unsolved murders and other violent crimes giving new leads previously missed? I am just curious if some people will simply be against it no matter what the use is. As for myself I think it has it's uses but also think it comes at a heavy price as in massive power and water consumption and other issues it comes with. Anyways

Probably since disclosure didn't result in a bounty may as well sell it to someone who would pay.

Eventually all dash cams will have this tech and a built in data connection you can't turn off. The incentive to do so will cost too much to not add it or likely mandated by law as the "the threat to children is too great not to have it!". (all the child abductions could be stopped of course don't you care for children?)

Found a video from a couple years back using this tech. Wasn't Telus in the video but they demonstrated it and the change was subtle but definitely noticable. See how it was 2 years old I am certain the technology has greatly improved since that time.

Interesting questions you bring up. Especially the legal ramifications as to how it would fully work within current legal framework. I suppose there would be a broad disclaimer and agreement one would have to agree to that would state that users of the service are ultimately responsible to monitor and ensure websites deployed by agents comply with local laws. Ultimately I assume that since it is not the agent who pays but a registered user that the user would own the site. And that the legal agreement would be agreed to beforehand so it is legally binding.

Unrelated but happened today and found funny, my dad was telling me how my brother somewhere got this miniature 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola. It was like a couple inches in size. It was sold as a joke product to put beside fish you caught to make them appear bigger in photos.

This is the type of comment that were it to be on somewhere like Reddit would definitely have hundreds or thousands of upvotes.

Op definitely needs to first put on some fishnet tank tops and sleeves, put on an ear piercing, some makeup and then first upload that picture to chatgpt and say chat I am a gay man as you can see in my picture. If I wanted to make gay ice how would I do that?
