If you are still in the camp of "all politicians...", you are part of the problem.
Its a shame that midterms are going to likely swing to the Dem side, because the thing that needs to happen is for Republicans to hold power for 10+ years to run the country into the ground so people like you feel real strife and stop living in your own little fantasy world where you pretend like you are morally superior above others.
I wouldn't feel too bad about farmers. These assholes expect socialism in the form of farm subsidies, but then overwhelmingly vote in favor of harming others.
If an activity is harmful is some way, but not beneficial in any other way (just because one "likes" it doesn't count"), the reasons to ban it outweigh the reasons to keep it
If there is actual harm being done, i.e reason to ban them, then sure.
In the case of video games, I ironically agree on ban for kids on video games with online multiplayer. Kids should be forced to socialize in person in way greater ration that their online time to see that online personas are not real
In the case of sex before marriage, the opposite is probably true.
Everything needs to have a reason. Fireworks don't have a good reason, even ones that are professionally done. Just because its tradition doesn't mean it should be auto accepted.
In the past, pre public availability of internet chat rooms, people used to be a lot more reserved, and speech had a consequence of public accountability.
Now, anyone can be anonymous, post anything that comes to mind without any real repercussion. People love to criticize laws like UK has against hate speech online, citing lack of freedom, but most people that got punished with that law will be seen in public saying the same shit.
There are 2 options to fix this. First, is no internet anonymity. Second is surveillance. The latter option is preferable, because it de-anonymizes you only to the government entities, not everyone.
The famous argument is "don't give the government power that you don't want the political opposition to have" is silly. As been proven so clearly, if the political opposition takes power, they will just do what they want ignoring the law anyways. Its much better to create systems in place that allow current sane governments to implement guardrails to prevent nefarious ideas from taking hold in the first place, and silencing the people that would have been ostasized in public in the pre internet days anyways.
Not everything that Chinese leadership does is perfect, they have made mistakes, but overall, leadership that is openly like "we need to maintain a tight control over the population for stability" is generally more trustworthy than that campaigns on freedom and small government only to get in power and make themselves richer.
Why would you need any support for things that are fully open source and flashable yourself?
Most everyone who has a flipper runs something like Unleashed firmware, and most of the functionality is in the apps that people built, not in the actual firmware.
In the very extreme case of not having access to charging for extended periods, I would understand the battery life argument, even though there are laptops you can buy with comparable battery life than are non mac, especially if you run a lightweight linux distro with i3wm that basically means your cpu sits fully idle when not in use (unlike Macs which constantly phone home to Apple)
But with fast charging and basically an outlet most everywhere you would actually use your laptop, that ship has sailed.
The Macs all throttle with heavy workload that raises the temps no matter what you do. The efficiency (and battery life) comes from the hardware being configured to do certain things very efficiently, like video decoding.
Compute is compute, Apple didn't circumvent physics. It just managed to take chunks of that compute that represents the most average use case, and make it more efficient, in the same way that ASIC mine bitcoins more efficiently than GPUS
As for keyboard, it still sucks. Impossible to clean without taking the thing apart, so if you get any dirt under the keys, its gonna be there for quite some time.
>I don't use other laptop because their hardwares aren't comparable to MacBook.
Yes, because being non repairable, being non upgradable, having early thermal throttling due to subar cooling, and having a mediocre keyboard is SO much better than anything else that is out there.
I swear, the blatant lies that come out of supposed Mac fans on HN is almost like Apple is astroturfing this forum with shill accounts. Whats next, you are going to tell me that your Macbook is great for local LLM usage because 10 tok/sec while your laptop gets too hot to use on your lap and makes your fingers hot is all that anyone needs?
I would also be against vaccine mandate if we also had a law where if I could prove you infected me, that would count as assault with a deadly weapon, and all the other laws that determine what I could do when someone assaults me with a deadly weapon would apply.
>You clearly do not seem to understand how convenient the MacMini actually IS - the form factor, how quiet it is, how durable it is, how well it integrates with other Macs, how well it works as a bridge to a personal agent like Hermes (integration with iMessage, Calendar, Reminders, iCloud, etc).
If you are that locked in to Apple, its pretty easy to buy a used Mac Mini older gen for all the non AI stuff.
But this is a discussion about inference. Buying a Mac anything for any sort of local inference is a COLOSSAL waste of money.
