I wore a mask and don’t leave the house, but other wise agree with you, Reddit is mostly an echo chamber for the worst aspects of both the left and right socio-economic ideas.

I was a mod and drew the line when I got a death threat.

Most mods work as volunteers to keep a sub clean of spam and porn. When the only ‘thanks’ you receive is, ‘we know where you live, watch your back’ I’m done.

The cherry on tip is when you notify the admins that there is nefarious activity and they literally don’t return a response for 3 weeks.

Reddit’s voting system enforces group-think, the users think it’s a ‘democracy’ in that they get to make the rules and mods should just follow orders, then mods need help due to an uprising, admins are no where to be found.

The meme subs aren’t funny any more, pics of cats and dogs are tired. The anti-mask, anti-vax, the_donald, and so much more all incubated in Reddit under the watch of the mods, the admins, and Condi Nast themselves for nothing more than advertising dollars.

I understand Reddit serves a purpose for some but it, in part, is assisting in the downfall of society. By allowing people to downvote without thinking critically, without thinking about the affects of polarizing endlessly until right and wrong don’t matter as long as everyone is in agreement. And if someone isn’t in agreement, downvote them in to oblivion.

Veritasium describes a similar situation (not the AOC); a hotel that has infinite rooms and what happens when an infinite number of buses each with an infinite number of guests pulls up.

> The problem with this is that the nature can stay hostile for much longer than humans can stay alive.

Seems to me, as a species we are smart enough to recognize we are all playing guided by game theory, we should be smart enough to step outside of game theory's limitations for mass negotiations. We should able to work within natures limits by group bargaining toward more environmental approaches. Yet we can't. Not even a little. We aren't even close. This has been a well known issue for decades, and nothing, nothing even close to what is needed has been done. Capitalism failed us, democracy failed us, the US failed us, our parents and our children failed us. Not even close to a passing grade.

I imagine I'm not going to make many friends for saying this, but... This was a test. We failed. Why should humans get to survive to the next round? Why are we so sure we are good? All I see is distractions, destruction, pollution and consumption... maybe that's on me cause I had a bad day... We destroyed the planet, killed the majority of insects, and the majority of vertebrates, toxified all the lakes and streams, over fished the oceans then dumped DDT, PCBs, VX nerve agent, and radioactive waste. We aren't done. We keep going. More more more. Now other countries are just coming on the scene and they want some polluting rights too.

Not to mention how many guys in the 80s lived in denial. They were afraid to tell their wives, their friends and their family, much less get a prescription from the doctor.

Closeted men living straight lives, would go out for a night of indulgence and the next day were overwhelmed with great regret and fear. PrEP doesn’t fit anywhere in that equation.

And they shouldn’t. Do we all not serialize all data not only to prevent bugs but also because the source isn’t always that altruistic? “Tall fences make nice neighbors” is a nice analogy to say we need limits and boundaries in systems. If being bad is difficult you will be less inclined to invest effort in being bad. You can interpret that as mistrust but I call it boundaries and limits.

Also “this is why we can’t have nice things” is a fun way of saying there are bad actors in every group. You don’t know who they are. So you can give them carte blanche and watch it burn to the ground, or create systems to check, maintain and over all limit privileges and access. This isn’t so much as blatant mistrust for everyone so much as they don’t know everyone’s intent and a great way for a product to not go up in flames is to consider earned trust and security at the cost of some convenience

I had an interesting run-in with a chiropractor. Toward the end of winter 2017 there was a freak snow storm in the north east. 2 feet of heavy snow fell in 24 hours. I had an undiagnosed shoulder injury I was compensating for from hard falls downhill biking and 20 years of drumming. I didn't realize at the time as I ran the snow blower pushing and lifting it, I was doing critical damage to my spine. C5, C6 & C7 were bulging and getting herniated, impeding on nerves that control my left back arm and hand.

Over the next two weeks my left back shoulder forearm and hand would vary in sensation from complete numbness to random spasms to extreme pain like fire or bursting open. I lost muscle and my back shoulder and arm began to atrophy.

In NYC it's tough to get to see a doctor without an appointment unless you're loaded. I'm not but I was willing to bleed my life savings to get some relief. I went to lots of doctors, paying cash, just to get someone to help. They barely looked at me and never touched me. An x-ray showed no broken bones so they prescribed muscle relaxers. Nothing they did would address the underlying issue or actually do anything beyond postponing even worse bigger issues to deal with later.

I started going to acupuncture. $200 dollars a pop. Laying on the table was excruciating. I couldn't feel the needles at all. The acupuncturist eventually would push needles all the way through various muscles with no effect. Then we tried "cupping", it looked awesome/gruesome. Since the needle pokes weren't working she recommended chiro.

This is were things get interesting. I'm on the chiro table, he walked in and takes one look at me "Whoa, what did you do?!" He could see my shoulder was not aligned. I felt so relieved that someone finally could see my injury and immediately. I thought I was in good hands. He started to manipulate me. "Did you have a previous injury? Your shoulder has partial subluxation. Your c5,c6,c7 are out of alignment. That's strange." Then he said he was going to fix my shoulder. "You'll feel a lot of pressure. That's weird it popped out again. You may should go to the ER." I now I realize I went in to shock. Everything after was a blur. I remember him saying things but I don't know what. I ended up in NYU ER. My entire arm felt like was opened and dissected and lit on fire. It was a busy day and the waiting room had a triage tent setup. I wasn't dying and blood was flowing to my arm so I sat there for three hours. They finally gave me a valium. The pain stopped. As I left, the ER staff begged me to stay. I got in a taxi and went home. The valium made me feel great, like a cloud; soft and fluffy. (BTW that ER visit "not a bill" was for $5,500... I never saw specialist or got any imaging. Just a valium.) The day after I felt like I lost a fight and got my left side kicked in. Weeks later I saw a neurologist, I had an MRI, It turns out my c567 were in fact bulging. But the chiro should not have manipulated me without imaging.

This is my back in May of that year. https://imgur.com/a/LA1emY8

I worked with PT and regained 100% use and strength even better than pre-injury, however as of today my thumb, index and middle finger are numb, I presume due to the extreme manipulation in the chiropractors office.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t mention parabens and pthalates which are used in all sorts of cosmetics and self care products and don’t have to be listed as ingredients, often just showing up as “fragrance”. They are ‘forever’ and hormone disrupters. Pretty scary stuff.

I can confirm. Simple’s app was beautiful, elegant, fast, easy to use, didn’t flash unnecessary or ugly (Account numbers, innocuous warnings, Bad UI elements, Broken transitions, switching between the app and the web interface); things Chase, US bank, city, Bank of America are all guilty of. I loved being able to set aside money with the simple account.

Now I have first hand experience with BBVA as well. I’ll give it to them their app is pretty good. It’s clean, fast, and the transitions are good. Logging in is fast and easy. But boy the app experience is not anything I would call elegant. It was clearly designed by very square people with lawyers and accountants as their inspiration.

I’ve been a simple customer since the beginning. I use Novo banking for my business after I had major problems with Chase when they returned a $16k check and blamed it on me then locked me out of my account, truly a horrific experience for a customer with a 20 year business history. But I digress. Overall I was pretty happy with simple.

When I came to this transition or any transition like this I take it as serious as a heart surgery, knowing one wrong move will send me into a gauntlet of forms and hours of phone calls. Situations like this, on this scale might be rare but on a personal level I’ve had terrible experiences with an assortment of companies due to malfunctioning software or bad employees.

I was warned about the simple transition weeks in advance. I completed the transition Saturday morning with no errors. My accounts are working fine. Sorry others didn’t have my experience.

Statute of limitation DOES apply to collection of debts

"For example, the statute of limitations for credit card debt in a few states may be as long as 10 years, but most states impose a period of three to six years. To determine the statute of limitations on different kinds of debts under each state's law, check with a legal aid lawyer, another attorney, or your State Attorney General's Office."
