He literally compared the UK to a fascist state, and you're attacking me for calling him out on it?

Godwins law, the bottom has been reached, abandon ship everyone.

Now that someone has enacted Godwin and stated that the UK is becoming fascist, it's probably time to close this topic. The bottom has been reached.

It's easy and simplistic to blame individual "nutjobs" or "the media" for brexit happening. As if the huge numbers of brexit-voters were simple folk who got bamboozled. Far more difficult to accept that working-class people did actually know what they were voting for?

I say this trying to be measured: you are NEVER going to get a reasonable discussion about Brexit on HackerNews, despite all the excellent qualities of this website.

The vast majoriry of people here experienced the benefits of EU "globalisation" without any of the downsides. And when you are enjoying the benefits of a system, it's really quite difficult to see those who are not.

Reddit has turned into a clownish propoganda website. It is exponentially worse than any other social media website. It is a complete failure at every level.

WARNING! Be aware that this is an Electron app. I tried it, and using the interface was like swimming in glue. I presumed this meant "Electron app" and a quick check confirmed it.

Googles forced country localization is IMBECILICLY STUPID.

I am currently in a foreign country. My English OS laptop with English browser has been logging in to gmail in English for years, and I ask Google search to show results in English for 5 years and EVERY TIME it tries to show the local language. Going to google.com is IGNORED, why??

Google engineers are paid $$$$$$$$ of dollars to implement THE MOST STUPID CODE I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH AAAAARGH.

"I suspect we're about to see [Apple Silicon] move to small performance increases due to diminishing returns"

Is there any discussion of this online, I'm curious to read more.

The UI heatmap shows that nobody clicks Pocket, but the video highlights that pocket is "refreshed" and is part of the new design. Dear Firefox, that's not how things work.

It fails because the face is real but the mouth movement is AI. It would need to be perfect otherwise you are in uncanny valley. It reminded me of the talking horse TV shows from years ago.

Look at the abject failure of Discourse. If it had been written in PHP then it would have completely replaced all current forum software. But the devs there hate PHP and went for a modern stack which is all but impossible to install except for tech professionals.

In other words, they chose a tech stack which suited them as developers, and not which suited the end users of the software.

End users love PHP because you copy the files into a folder. That's why it's so popular. That fact that you are talking about architectural "elegance" shows how removed you are from understanding the needs of the end user.

A quick anecdote: interviewers HATE when you criticise previous employers. You complain at length about previous employers in your post, instead of talking about what you learned/experience gained. Ensure in interviews that everything you talk about is positive outcomes, NOTHING negative.

"I'll give you mock 30 minute interview (I've hired countless engineers, designers, PMs and other roles in the last 20+ years)"

This is an incredibly generous offer and I hope it gets done, because it would BY FAR the most valuable thing that the OP needs.

Fortunately most institutions of the EU are not as absurdly extremist as you are.

Advertisers on Reddit are small boutique businesses. Fortune 500 type companies won't touch them.

Advertisers HATE unmoderated user-generated content. The UGC on Reddit is probably the most extreme for any mainstream website. How are they going to make money? No advertisers will touch them in the current state.
