The sun provides unlimited energy for billions of years, significantly cheaper and without the hypothetical risk of turning huge areas uninhabitable or causing incidents with damage in the trillions.

So in your eyes, the population of several western countries is (and has been for decades) dominated by complete morons, resulting in free or almost free ambulance rides?

And what does the Democratic party have to do with all that? Your whole comment just seems like a thinly veiled and insulting political rant. Going by your account name, this seems to be a pattern.

I don't see how expensive energy helps us "upgrade civilization".

You seem to be confusing Hacker News with 4chan.

I sincerely hope your optimism doesn't turn out to have been naivety.

As an EU consumer, I appreciate laws and regulations that ban selling cheap junk that might burn my house down or poison my baby.

I take it you don't?

Not sure, boatloads of money perhaps? And status as the global hegemon?

And it seems like the winners capitalism brought about don't actually care all that much about both "social" and "democratic" aspects of "social democracy", if they stand in the way of ever increasing wealth and power.

Do you think your comment has any substance beyond expressing your disdain for Europe / the EU? Are you aware that Switzerland is not a member of the EU?

It's not sampling randomly though.

Because when they do, they receive snide remarks like "just don't buy their stuff then".

Ah yes, of course. I recommend you look up the definition of fascism. Words have meanings.

I was hoping to find a video for this exercise, and instead got a video on Peter Thiel. Is that intentional?

What party are you talking about?

It most definitely is not?

The decision was made in response to Fukushima, 15 years ago. Generational trauma from Chernobyl probably played a role as well. How does this relate to nuclear weapons at all?

You are accusing me of belittling "you", after you wrote "gaga show".

That's ironic. And no, money is not flowing in one direction only. As I already wrote, Bavarian industry is effectively massively subsidized by the north investing massively in renewable energy production and overpaying for their own energy because demand is driven by the south (who is fighting tooth and nails against building their own wind turbines for ideological reasons).

Greetings from Hessen (another Geberland, just like Bavarian, but without the Bavarian exceptionalism, which most of Germany just sees as arrogance)!

Nuclear reactors are about the most expensive way of producing energy. If you want cheap energy you certainly want to phase out nuclear, which is only viable with massive subsidies or externalities paid for by the tax payer.

What gaga show? Bavarian industry is being subsidized via cheap electricity from the north, who in turn is paying higher prices than they would otherwise.
