Do you let anyone come into your home ? If you did, you'd no longer have a home, and therefore would not be able to offer hospitality anymore. Don't you expect people who come to your home to abide by at least a few rules ?

It's the same for a country. It's because it has borders, rules, and a strong culture that it has something to offer that immigrants might be interested in.

I have fond memories of carrying my computer and CRT monitor to LAN parties in a homemade bicycle trailer !

It was at the time of 10BASE2 ethernet... I also had a huge coaxial cable I used to hang from my window to the neighbors window over the street :P

To fix my Thinkpad USB-C docking station on Arch, I asked Gemini and just followed what it said. It took a few minutes.

I've been pretty happy with ditching tabs altogether. I don't get the idea of tabs. Desktop manager already has workspaces and windows, do I really need yet another abstraction ?

I use split view all the time, but with two browser windows.

The idea that there's such a thing as neutral politics is highly problematic.

Evidence and science is one thing. What you should do with it is another entirely. Every decision is a tradeoff. Science can't tell you what to value.

I also had that idea before I tried to use Apple products to help friends... I really was amazed at the hoops you had to jump through for things which should have been really simple. That was a long time ago.

You make it sound like we are flesh robots : sensors and motors, with a central "CPU" that channels between the two. But a robot has no first-person experience, it's just smart electron flows.

That we have first-person experiences shows the soul is definitely not "a process your body runs" : it's where your whole experience "registers".

That we are not flesh robots is also why we have free will. You could coherently argue that free-will is an illusion, but you can't argue that first-person experience is an illusion, as you need something to perceive the illusion.

This study demonstrates that it benefits the individual (and therefore the population).

I did not say anything about logic or emotions. I'm also not sure I agree with your characterization of Donald Trump.

For the sake of argument, let's say I had mentioned logic and emotions and you were right about Trump. He would just be an example of an outlier (which by the way he obviously is, although not in the way you imply), not an argument against my point which is that male and female distributions are quite distinct for some traits, with little overlap.

If by muscular and skinny you mean that one has more capacity for developping strength, then sure, why not ? Should our expectations not be based on ability ?

If you look at things like physical strength for instance, the difference is quite marked. That some females can be stronger than some men does not change the fundamental distribution. This is not a construct of the mind.

If male and female abilities differ, it should follow that our social expectations differ.

I thought wireless charging was inefficient because the coils were never properly aligned, but that magsafe fixed that.

Why use photovoltaic panels instead of direct solar thermal ?
